Stomach noises and pains

Murphy is a 3 1/2 year old dog.
He will not eat anything for a day or 2 and his stomach makes loud gurgling/rumbling noises and he seems very down. A day or so later he is back to normal again.
About 4 weeks later this happens again.
Does anyone have any ideas what this is or is their something I can give him to stop this??

If it is something that happens regularly like that, then I'd be inclined to wonder if it's something environmental that he gets into that is upsetting his tummy. Do you happen to have neighbours that like to fertilise their vegetable patch on a monthly basis, or anything like that?

No nothing like neighbours fertilizer.
When i say every 3-4 weeks sometimes it could be 7-10 days then 1 month so it is not a set time limit.

OK, well in that case, how about looking at what he eats? If you don't think he could be getting into anything outside that he shouldn't, then the next thing is what he gets as regular food. It seems fairly clear that he's consuming something that doesn't agree with him. I have to say, the quality of most commercial dog food in the UK is appalling, so it wouldn't surprise to find that is the cause. Items very high on the list of things commonly found in dog food that frequently cause digestive upsets for dogs include wheat, corn (maize), beet pulp and low quality ingredients like by-products. Any of those in the food you feed?

Samson will sometimes get this when he does not eat for a day. His stomach will get upset because it is completely empty and will make noises. He won't want to eat then. We usually entice him with something he really enjoys and try to keep food in his stomach. I try to give him a little bit of food or even a biscuit every night before bedtime.

I think it probably just because he is hungry. When it happens, how long has it been since he has eaten?
