Stinky doggie

Now I know Boxers have a thing with farting but my dogs farts ALOT ALOT
Now just last night for example she farted every 2-3 mins pretty much all night long......This happens all the time? The are sometimes loud and most of the time STINK!!!1
Is there anything I can do to help with the little problem so my hous isnt smellin when I have some company (or just for my own nose)

Most of the time, it is diet-related

She eats Pedigree actually....I tried everything else and this was the only one she would eat?? I tried everything from Eukanuba to a store brand and she will only eat this? She hardly ever eats human food.....and when she first started on Pedigree she didnt fart as much it just gets worse???

Gracie had this problem and we started feeding her Canidae with a few spoons of vanilla yogurt on top. She still farts but not nearly as much.

Canidae made he all aorund healthier IMO....

I would definitely say that Pedigree is the culprit. Please do a search on "quality kibble" and you will get lots of great advice on switching her to a better food. Eukanuba is a pretty bad food as well..

Dogs will not starve themselves to death. She likely wouldn't eat her other foods because she knew that if she held out, you would give in and give her something better. Boxers are notoriously smart (and stubborn)!

There are many threads on free-feeding and the dangers of it. I would suggest reading through those. To sum it up though, place the bowl of kibble down and give your pup 15 minutes to eat. If she refuses, pick up the bowl and put it away until next feeding (dinner time). Do the same.

It really only takes them a short while to figure out that they have to eat when you feed them, with no exceptions.

Good luck on that, and switching to a much better quality food.

A better quality of kibble will help. I also put a tablespoon of plain yogurt in my dogs food each day. This helps with the stinkies.

kneesaa was a very finicky kibble eater (she would only eat purina too). I ended up switching her to a raw diet.
she eatd much better (or easier). and the farts have gone away. which works for everyone in the household

I tried all foods ...I bought bags and they lasted forever because she refused to eat........I even went and found that Chicken Soup puppy food and she turned her nose .....after I tried Pedegree she started eating and gaining weight finally!!! She has been eating this for about 2 months now and she just recently started getting worse with the farting

We tried the yogart and it got worse... I don't think Guinness could handle the dairy...

Don't take this the wrong way, because we are all here to help. However, your statement is the perfect analogy to a parent only feeding their small child Doritos because "it's all she will eat".

Really, your dog will not starve itself. When she doesn't eat, it is because she is holding out for the Doritos instead.

She's smart.

While she can subsist on Pedigree. Do you really want to be feeding the equivalent of "junk food" all her life?

Please do a search on free-feeding, and you will get GREAT suggestions on how to make your dog eat. This is more of a behavioral issue than anything else.
