Thanks for the info. Funny & refreshing to hear about the damage your dog has done. All the others I've read about seem so well behaved - must be something to do with the training! We too have had boxers who have ripped down curtain poles, eaten mobile phones etc etc etc. You can't be houseproud with a boxer!
With regard to waiting for a rescue dog- how long did you have to wait and with whom did you eventually get from one? I have contacted the White boxer rescue centre (Preston) and the North West (Mrs Burnett?) boxer rescue centre to whom I have sent my 'Home Finding Form' but had no reply as yet. Is this the same lady who was always busy? Although I'm prepared to wait for the right dog it would be nice to get one sooner rather than later.
I have looked at the rescue site and think I have covered the ones in our area. I have been advised to stay away from one, which I think is the one that shows the pictures. Please let me know of any rescue centres that I maybe missing. Thanks.

I'm so sorry to hear about your dog. I know that must have been so hard for you. That is great that you are getting another one though. I hope to get a chance to chat with you sometime in the chat room. On crating, this is our first dog and our breeder suggested crating to us so before we brought her home we read everything we could find on crating. We got most of the best information off of the internet, how to's and what not to do. It was the best move we ever made. Her crate is right beside my side of the bed so she is in the same room with us and it is also her "quiet space". When she is tired of playing and needs some alone time she just goes to her crate and we know she needs some "alone" time. She actually enjoys her crate. I know it seems difficult when you are first crate training them because they spend a lot of time in their crate, but I think you will be very happy with the end results. Our crate is portable so it is really handy when we travel with her because we can set up her "bed" wherever we go. Good luck with your new member of your family!

hi ally it was the one on merseyside that i had trouble getting her to come round i cant remember her name,i also tried all the others and was warned about a certain one but they didnt have any available or what they did have was too old. in the end i got mine out of the loot on the internet if u go to the dog section there r lots of boxers for sale all over the uk i got mine from burnley u just have too check that the breeder is a good one. i couldnt wait for the reascues to get me one and it took 3 months from me contacting them to me deciding enough was enough,appointments were being made and broken all the time. im not sure if we were warned off the same one but the person i spoke to that warned me off i think it was of a personnel nature aswell as proffesional one. i hope u get one soon and that i havnt discouraged u from rescuing its just that i needed to get one quick as i had booked holidays so i could b at home to introduce mine and work were getting sick of me changing them.

Hello Tias mum, I think too that I'm going to have a long wait for a rescue dog. I have been given the number of another rescue centre but have been advised not to use that one also. I have my name down for 2 centres and the lady who runs the White boxer rescue centre is excellent and has given me some good advice and ideally I would like to get a dog from her. However if I don't hear from either by mid Feb then I may contact the others and just hope that we get a nice one, but it is difficult when you have young children in the house to take a chance. Maybe we will have to get a puppy. The house doesn't feel right without a dog in it. I'll keep you updated with our progress or lack of progress as the case may be. Thanks for the info.
