Boxer Pal
Hello
Im from Iceland, and i need some help :/ Hope my english is ok.
I was wondering if any of you had experienced something like this after gastric foreign body surgery in dogs....
My Boxer is 2 years old and swallowed a medium sized ball 3 months ago (stupid boy :( !!) It was too big for him to get rid of by himself, so doctors had to remove it with surgery. Surgery went fine and he healed well for the next three weeks, and we thought everything had gone well. But after these three weeks he started to puke in the morning and have REALLY loud stomach noises, he wouldn't eat in the morning except when we gave him the last meal right before midnight, and first meal early in the morning. So he only experiences this pain when the stomach is empty. There was blood both in his puke and stool. We started giving him acidity regulator (i think its called that) and medicine for gastritis. We tried a bunch of them, but it didn't work. We also tried steroids, and they worked well. He was on steroids for 1 week, and was fine a week from that.
Now, a week from that, he is sick again :( He was really in pain yesterday, had trouble with walking and walked with a hump. Whined when we took him up and trembled. Also he had massive hair loss and dandruff. He looked really bad and in pain. I was so worried i called the doctor and we met her and she gave him steroids and painkillers for the stomach with injection. He slept all night and woke up this morning quite joyful. Now the day has passed and he slept through most of it and is acting weird. I am so worried :( He is everything to me. The doctor told me to give him steroids if he was not ok. The next step is x-ray of the digestive tract and gastroscopy.
Do you have any advise or experience that you would like to share with us??
Thanks for reading !
