I am crying with you. I understand how hard it is to loose something so "Magic". The loss is great and when we have to make decisions like we do for them if something goes wrong we tend to balme ourselves. I have done the same thing with my Foxey who I lost in Feb to cancer. If I had noticed sooner, if I had paid more attention, what if, what if, what if. Ease your heart and mind, you did what you thought was right and remember Magic has unconditional love for you and you did for him. His spirit is in your heart and will never go away. Treasure the good moments with him and know that you will see him again.

My 1st boxer died this halloween. His name was Rockne and he was 12. Ive been thinking about him every day since he left.I questioned a lot of things about his life after it was over. Could I of been better, was he happy & things like that. It doesnt do any good. You have to understand these dogs love their "parents" with every ounce of energy they have.

What does help is thinking about how much better of a life youve had and how lucky you were having this angel in your life.We talk about all the funny stuff he used to do like chasing our other dog like a mad man after she got a bath, barking at the vacuum cleaner and chasing my wife around biting her on the butt.

Please dont beat yourself up. By looking at your pics I can tell you loved Magic very much and did all you could. Im sure it was obvious to magic all the way to the end.

You never forget but things do get better.

God bless you.

We are all here for you anytime you want to talk. Anyone who has ever lost a pet knows how hard it is. I have a hard time letting go and I grieved terribly for each and every pet I lost growing up. However, the memories will never go away. Think about all the wonderful times you had with Magic and what a great life you gave her. I have a feeling that if she could she would tell you thank you and to please think about the many happy times rather than the few bad ones in the end. She isn't in any pain anymore and she is burning around with the other boxers that have had to leave us. Time will ease your pain and until then, we are here to listen.

Sorry about your loss too. I can definitely relate. We lost KOKO Oct. 11 and she was the second one in less than 12 months. You mentioned your questions. Just my 2 cents. You obviously were the best for him and if he wasn't happy he never would have made it to 12. Personally, I think any boxer that makes it past the age of 10 is spectacular considering how many potential health issues they can be faced with.

Julie, I am so sorry for your loss, Magic was such a beautiful girl, I am sitting at my computer crying after looking at your pictures. I know the pain that you are feeling, I felt exactly the same when I had to let my beloved Poppy go, I couldn't eat, sleep, or do anything, I didn't even bother to get myself dressed, and slobbed around in my dressing gown for days, as I was so overwhelmed with grief, the pain is real and intense, deep in your heart, and is so hard to cope with, and the home feels so empty, I even kept all of Poppy's bedding, just so I could still smell, her scent (she always smelt of warm biscuits)...and the picture of Magic on her bed reminded me of the same picture I have of Poppy, taken the night before she died, I laid with her all through that last night, holding her and praying for a miracle, that I knew would never happen, and tried to burn the image of her sweet face into my memory, as I knew that all too soon, in the morning, I would have to let her go.
Remember you are not alone, Magic is always with you in spirit, and I am sure that sometime in the future, you will 'feel' her. About a year after Poppy went, I had a dream,.. there she was, standing on top of a beautiful green hill, looking as she did when she was younger, full of health, 'laughing' at me the way she always did when she was happy, and wagging her stubby tail, suddenly another Boxer came alongside her, and they both stood there looking at me for a moment, then they turned, and with their little 'rabbit tails bobbing, run off over the hill together, I feel it was Poppy and her mother, and that she had come to let me know she was not alone, and was happy.
Everyone here at Boxerworld understands your pain, and are always here for you to 'talk' to.... I know that dosn't heal your pain at this moment, but please take comfort to know that we care. xxxxx God speed sweet Magic, you will always be loved... angelicon

Julie I am so sorry for your loss of your beautiful Magic. You have to know you were a wonderful mommy to your girl. Just looking at your pictures I can tell all of the love Magic had for her mommy. I lost my Abby almost 5 yrs ago and I still think about her almost everyday. She was only 8 yrs old and had a pinched nerve in her neck and was in so much pain. The vet told me we could take her to Purdue and have surgery on her but the surgery usually does not work for bigger dogs and I would be putting her through alot more pain then she was in already. I still think I shoud have taken her for the surgery but we barley got her to the vets because she was in so much pain. We had to carrying her in a blanket out to the vehicle. Just remember we never want our babies to leave us and we wish they could live to be a ripe old age with us but that is not possible. Your Magic watches over you and your family. My Abby has come to me in my dreams and she is young again and feeling no pain. Magic will be with you always in your heart. Just know she does not want you to be hurting the way you are. She is your guardian angel.

Julie I know how you feel.

When I was a few months old, my parents bought me a German Sheppard puppy named Sheba. Sheba was my best friend, and we were together causing trouble for 12 years. One day I was giving her belly rubs and she had a red bump on her tummy so I showed it to my mom. The next day, it had doubled in size, so we took her to the vet. Keep in mind that I wa sonly 12 at the time. The vet came and told my parents what was wrong, and I didnt understand but when I looked at my Mom and saw her face I knew it wasnt anything good. I started crying and pulled the door open and ran to my car and just kept crying and crying. I felt so bad because on my way out of the vets office when I opened the door, I hit Sheba and it hurt her because she yelped. I have felt so guilty for that. The next day, my parents made the decision that we were going to put her to sleep because it was cancer and she was old so there was no guarantee she'd make it through surgery. We spent that whole day taking picture with her and we bought her McDonalds And I swear to you, that whole week I was the saddest little girl in the world.

I'll never forget the day we had her put to sleep. It was june 17, 1998. That day we had our end of the year concert at school. I was singing in the choir while my best friend was dying. My sister bought me a locket and put my picture in it and Shebas picture in it, and put it around Shebas neck so that I could be there with her for her last moments.

It's been 7 years and I still miss her. I have a picture of her and me in my room on the wall. I still cry about her and it still hurts me that I wasnt there with her to say goodbye and to make her not scared and to tell her I love her one more time.

But I know that shes watching me grow from Heaven, and watching me fulfill my dreams and at the same time that its hurting me to remember her and to hold onto her, shes happy that I am remembering her and shes waiting for me when its my time to go.

Julie, I know all too well how much it hurts, and how much it still hurts, but Magic is in a better place and she's watching you and your family and Deeg grow and she's waiting patiently for you when your time comes to meet her again.

Have you thought of doing something as a memorial for her? Theres a guide dog training facility here in Ottawa, and they have this pathway there and you can buy a stone to add to the pathway and have your pet's name engraved on it as a memorial, my sister bought one for her dog Blue because my nephew was so broken up about having him put to sleep. Did Magic have a favorite place in the yard to lie around? Maybe you could plant a tree or a rose bush there and you can go and sit there and think, or read or just stare at the sky and talk to Magic

The pain never fully goes away, but it does get better, I promise
