Another couple things I would add:

- Backpacks with some weight and/or your water bottles. Pack him down with an additional 15 lbs+ and you will get more out of your walk if you are short on time. Check with the vet, as I am not there yet with our puppy. But it IS something we are expecting to need to do.

- Other dogs do the best at tiring them out. If you can find another high-energy breed to play with, that would be ideal. Befriend the owner and possibly rotate "play dates." I have a lawn client that always has the neighbor's dog in her backyard. It works wonders for them.

Kind of like what the others are saying, though. 30 minutes won't get the job done with most boxers....let alone one that is notoriously hyper. Add more time, even if it means a 2nd walk later in the day for another 30 minutes.

I don't remember who said their dog gets "the crazies" after a 2 mile walk, but WOW do I see that, too. The walk sometimes just stimulates them. I come home fairly bushed and end up getting licked to death and jumped on.......gotta love those boxers!

You know, another thing to add that dawned on me.

I think this is why you boxer owners seem to have two dogs?! The best thing to tire a dog out.......is another dog.
