Hi Jen,

Its been just over a month since my darling Ginty left me, I still cannot smile, I can not even share with my family how I am feeling.... I have thought about getting another boxer girl, but really all I want is my Ginty back. Sometimes I find one of my darlings hairs on the carpet and put it on the desk near the computer and talk to her (how mad is that) !! I say night night to her every night, and "morning sleepy head" every morning. I have lost all interest in the garden, it seems such an empty place without her, her bench empty with the paint flaking off it. I just sob every day and want her back.
Jen you said " I never in a million years thought I'd be THIS UPSET for this long. " Please please take my love and hugs...from one loving grieving mum to another. Hopefully my Ginty ( My Ginty didnt like other dogs) has made friends with Harley.... and are looking down on us , just willing us to cheer up.
Love Pam xxxxxxx

Jen it really will get better. It's been almost 2 years since I lost Markus. It still hurts when I think of him, but I can now look at his pictures and smile. Remember the happy times. His memories will last forever.

Hello Jen,
I clicked on the Rainbow Bridge forum because I've really been missing our Zaeda these recent days. I think its because her 1 year old birthday would have been this month. I miss her every day! I know everyone deals with grief differently and you just need to give yourself time to figure out what way will work best for you.

My husband was very distraught when we lost Zaeda. He went out 2 days later and brought home a new puppy (Zeus). At first I was not happy at all about the idea, but as time has gone on Zeus really has brought alot of healing to the hole that was left when Zaeda was gone. The hole has not been totally filled by Zeus but at least its not empty anymore.

Three months is not long at all to get over such a deep loss. You have every right to grieve in your own way, in your own time. I pray that your heart finds peace soon; it will come, it almost always does. Your baby would want that for you I am sure.

(((HUGS))) :)

Thank you everyone for your kind words. We almost did adopt a 6 month old boxer pup........but at the last minute..........things didnt end up working out (I wont get into the long, drawn out story). Since then, I've been really freaked out about NOT getting another one. My husband keeps saying "when you're ready, we'll go out and get one", but as time passes, Im more scared than ever to get another one. Which leads me to believe maybe Im not ready yet. I dunno? I know one day we'll definitely have another boxer.........but I really dont think Im ready yet. Even though it may help fill a void, Im just scared about anything bad happening (he/she getting sick, etc.....). I know I shouldnt think that way........but after what I went through w/ Harley, it's hard not to. When my baby passed he took a huge chunk of my heart w/ em'. :( One day, I'll find the strength to get another boxer........I know it. In the meantime, I just need to get through this "rough phase".

I can relate. It will be three months on the 6th since Killian left us. On one hand, yes, it is getting a little easier in that I am not so quick to start bawling my eyes out... But on the other hand I still look for him to come around the corner in the bedroom or kitchen, I still see slobber marks on the wall, I put his crate in the garage, but it is still set up and his bed is on top of it and so is his toy box. The empty feeling hurts worse some days than others, but every day I miss him. Sending you a big ((hug)).

My husband and I talked about the problems that boxers have and their lives being shorter but we both agreed that they love you so much in their lives that it worth the pain. Addy is 11 weeks old today and beleive me I had forgotten what it was like to have a puppy. She definetly keep my mind busy with keeping up with her. I look at her little legs and remember Rocky's leg and the tumor but she needs me and I need that love. I hope your pain will start to ease up. You gave your baby a wondeful life full of love. Harley and Rocky will be waiting for us someday in the mean time prayers to you.

Jen,

I think we lost our boxers about the same time. We lost Trudy on January 10. I'm still having trouble with it. Some days are easier than others and some are just plain tough. We have another boxer,Zola who we rescued 3 years ago. It's not the same though. I love Zola dearly but Trudy was my first boxer and my baby. I don't think you're crazy (or I am too). They were a big part of our lives and our families and of course, we'll have to grieve in our own way and time. Sometimes, there is something that reminds me so much of her, it hurts. I work with a lady who lost her dog, Patty, a couple years ago and says she's still missing her dog.

I'm so sorry for your loss. It will be one year on the 6th of this month that we lost our beloved Morrissey, I still cry for him.
We adopted Reilly in January and I love him but we never forget our other babies who have left us. I hope Harley and Morrissey are playing at the bridge, many hugs to you, take care, Kate.

Jen-

I cried, literally, every day for a year after the untimely death of my Chaz. i kept thinking I was nuts and hated the pain. It was strange. The one year anniversary of his death was the day things became easier and more clear. I'd made it. I'd survived. I remember now and will always love but it is easier and my other pets helped. They needed me and I couldn't bail on them. They were alive and so was I. So much was learned. Hang in there. I'm thinking of you.
