I don't know what to do any more!!!!
This has been going on since November....
Princess has really bad allergies! The dermatologist says it's environmental! Antihistamines are just not cutting it. She's scratching herself soo bad i think she's going to tear her skin right off her body! Her eyes look like she's been in a boxing match. The Dermatologist doesn't want to do an allergy test until the end of allergy season....Everytime I look at her I just want to cry! We went to the vet for her routine check up, heart worm, vacinations and blood work and the vet suggested to try Depo-Medrol. But the Dermatologist wants to put her on Prednisone, and cephalexin. I've got the prescription but haven't started her on it yet. What do I do? I've started Princess on Barf diet but now she's got worms from it. I just don't know what to do anymore!!!!
Any suggestions or input would be greatly appreciated

Thank you in advance for any replies

Oh yah some Vets will say anything to scare someone off of feeding a BARF diet. I highly doubt your dog got worms from eating raw food. Please don't listen to your vet about that. If you want more proof post a question about it in the BARF forum. You should be able to get some responses. :)

As for the allergies, there are some herbal remedies that you can make and put on your dog. I will find more info and post it for you later. :)

My friends dogs have environment allergies and she gives them a tablet of benadryl a day, which really helps them. Perhaps you can ask your vet about this? I think it would have less side effects than a steroid.

And as Andie said, it's not likely the worms came from a raw diet. If you know the type of worms she had it's pretty easy to figure out how she got them. For example, tape worms are almost always from ingesting infected fleas.
