spray vinegar in face?

I have heard of the water spraying, but never spraying anything else.

Vinegar stings - It's not rocket science - We all know that.

Your trainer is cruel, & does use hurtful methods after all.

What a wicked thing to do. I can't write about it anymore, it's making me too angry.

Spray the vinegar in your trainers face and see how they like that.

On a hot day if we are out and about we spray Lisa will water and she loves it, she tries to catch the water. But vinegar is acid, truly barbaric.

there has got to be 100 more humane and probably more effective ways to solve this. vinegar isnt the answer and i certainly wouldnt be spraying it in baileys face. a rattle jar or training discs will probably be just as effective and those are just the first 2 ideas that popped into my head. u need something that doesnt teach him that YOU are the one causing pain to him. all he will learn from that is to stay away from you when he is being 'naughty' and that doesnt solve anything. try to concentrate more on your control of him (voice, hand signals etc) and your relationship with the dog then you will probably be able to get ontop of most of these things without the need to use props that are potentially harmful to your dog and to your relationship with the dog.

i think you get the point about spraying vinger is a big no no...

But I did want to comment on your other part, having you dog learn to watch you is a very good step. Good luck and dump that trainer... and I would be asking for a refund and the vet advice be paid for...

OMG!!!! Vinegar is an acid. I use straight vinegar to clean lime deposit of my coffee pot. I would NEVER consider using that as you trainer as suggested.

Wow, what alot of responses to this post, and I can see why. I would second guess your "trainers" proffessionalism, maybe as around to see if she has any referances. In my opinion I would think this would be animal abuse, like someone mentioned before vinegar is an acid, I know people that clean there floors with it!! I would recomend sparying water, I use on my cat's when they get into my plants, but I don't think it would work with a boxer, Kirby loves being sprayed with water!!! I wish you luck, and maybe consider a 2nd opinion from another trainer.

I would say this trainer is very wrong. there has to be a better way..i would look for a new trianer and make sure they only use positive methods and also call that trainer and tell him what your vet said and that you thinks its cruel maybe he'll change his way....

Please find another training, this one is a jerk and needs an attitude adjustment :mad:

I was taught to carry a choke chain (loose in my hand) and when my pups acted in a way that was not appropriate, I would rattle it or drop it next to them (not at them). This would startle them and bring their attention back to me. At the same time I did this, I would say "chain" Now all I have to do is tell them I'm getting the "chain" and they are all ears This is very similar to techniques using a can filled with pennies and rattling it. Dogs seem to hate the noise and it doesn’t hurt them, just startles enough to break their concentration.

Whoa, I am truly surprised at your post. How can trainers that are supposedly "educated" in dog behaviours and training suggest something of that nature! Unreal.......I am pretty sure that is not considered "positive reinforcement"!

I would request a refund as well.
