Boxer have ways of telling us something is up.

When my husbands young cousin who suffered from severe epilepsy ( 20 plus seizures a day) came to live with us Bonnie immediately tried to warn us when he was about to have a seizure. It took us a few days to work this out as she had no training whatsoever. Bonnie was extremely sensitive, excellent at sensing when there was something wrong with family members. I believe some dogs do have ways of warning us about things that we are unaware of.

I think it's highly possible that you remembered he didn't have water.
A few weeks ago, I dreamt I was in an auto accident and an 18 wheeler was coming at me. His bumper came up to my face (I'm lying on my back) and was smashing my legs. When I woke up screaming, Buddy was laying across both my legs and I was pinned down!
Talk about feel freaked out!
