spikes kong recipe

hi i just made this recipe up and it had spike going on the kong for 2hours 30 mins witch is the longest ever for him he usley has it dong with in side 1 hour ok what you do is the first hole the smallest one near the bottom fill it up to the second ring with the dogs own food then the second one fill it up with broken plain biskets and margine up to the third ring then pack the thrid ring ( the big hole ) with cooked ham right up to the top then put in 1 dog biskiet and spred marginge around it thats it
very simple but spike loved it

baileys current favorite is his kibble up to the 2nd ring, then a few cubes of cheese and some chunks apple/carrot, then a long bone shaped buscuit sticking out the top sealed in with a tad soft cheese or peanut butter and frozen overnight!! HE CANT GET ENOUGH OF IT! yesterday tho i came home and hes gotten it stuck so there was a bit still in.. he led me right to it and promptly finished it off. i have visions of him standing there in the hall going crazy to get it out for hours!!!

The all time favorite around here is peanut butter/kibble/banana.....frozen. Sometimes I alternate from the kibble and offer cheerios....just as good, "per Cami".

Kong?

I keep hearing the word Kong? It seems to be a toy or something. Could someone let me know what it is? It seems to keep the dogs busy, which would give me a break. I have a 7 week old and a 9 week old. They are both boys, which can be a handful. I love them to death, but a short break every once in a while would be nice.

I look forward to hearing about this Kong thing.

The Kong is a rubber bell shaped toy that has a small hole in the top and a large hole in the bottom. You seal the small hole up with something like lowfat cream cheese or peanut butter and then stuff with treats that your dog loves such as small treats or kibble, cheese, small pieces of meat, yogurt, apples, bananas you get the idea, at the large hole you seal with peanut butter or lowfat cream cheese and you can stick a dog bisquit out the top. The Kong can be given like this or it can be frozen overnight to keep your pup busy longer. You can find the Kong at any pet store or online. Ebay sells them just type in Kong Dog Toy in the search engine. Hope that this helps.

Kong Stuffers

Feeding them this stuff won't make them sick at all? (cheese, cheerios, etc)...should I wait untim Max is older, he's just 4 mos old...I have only put about a tablespoon of PB in it so far, and THAT doesnt last very long! 8)

I have been feeding Shakira peanut butter and yogurt in her kong since she was about that age with absolutely no adverse side effects. If you are concerned you could use more of his kibble and less of the other things. You can use your imagination on fixing up the kongs it is like the sky is the limit. I have two kongs and that way I always have one ready in the freezer. Boxers needs to keep their minds active and busy because they are so intelligent and this is a great way to do that.

Max's 1st Stuffed Kong Last Night

Max enjoyed his 1st stuffed Kong last night, I stuffed it with: Kibble to the 2nd ring, some cubes of 2% Mild Cheddar, and PB to seal the ends, and I put it in the freezer until bedtime. I DO think he rather enjoyed it!!! 8) He ate almost all of it by this morning, and is finishing it off right now! He seemed to have no problems this morning from eating it...I think it occupied him for a while! 8)

Hooray for Max he has mastered the Kong. I love giving Shakira the kong as she gets some good treats and definately some mind boggling time. Shakira is the type that has to be kept busy or she will do something. Believe me she is creative in what she can come up with. Congrats on a smart pup there to have figured out what to do with the kong right away.

My pups are 7 weeks and 9 weeks old. What is ok to put in there kong? We don't want them to get too used to people food.
