Hi and I have already called the on call vet who said not to worry....but I worry. I will call my vet this morning at 8, but thought I would put it out there and maybe someone knows something or at least can tell me not to panic. Sophie was Spayed yesterday and when we got her home she seemed very sleepy,to be expected and then she urinated just a wee bit...I was just about to try and give her dinner when the vomitting started and of course called the Vet who said normal....well she went to bed with no dinner and then this morning could not make it out side to urinate and the color is my concern it is brown unrine, I know I am glad she is going and she went a lot and she is also still vomitting only once since last night and turned her nose up at both water and food this morning, so I think I should be in a panic and again waiting on pins and needles for the vets office to open in 2 hours...until then maybe someone can tell me all is right and she will be fine..I just need to understand if any one else has had or gone through this with their babies - Thank you so much.

Spaying issues

Sophie is doing a little better and drinking water again and even managed to eat a wee bit, her urine is still brown however the vet suggested that she might have been going into heat hence the brown urine...I guess. She has not vomitted since 5 AM, which is a good sign and although she is still very sleepy and I am a little less concerned about it but still worried about my baby. I had no idea that she would react this way and will watch her closely over the next few days and have the vet on speed dial.

After my boy had surgery, both times, his urine was EXTREMELY dark (yes a brown-ish color) due to it being highly concentrated, so I would say it's normal. It also smelled HORRIBLE both times and the foster dog I had that had been spayed that day had very dark urine and it also smelled very bad, so I would again say that's normal.

The vomiting is very normal in fact both times after my dog had surgery I was told not to even attempt to give food until the following morning and even at that only a VERY small amount. If tonight/tomorrow morning she's still not wanting to eat or drink then I'd take her back in, but unless it goes into tomorrow I wouldn't worry about it personally.

Poor girl! Have you spoken to the vet again?? Usually they say it's normal right after surgery if the dog refuses food/water and even vomits in the first 24 hours. I don't know about the brown urine though

Hope she's OK. Keep us updated!
