The vet wants to spay Elli at four months. I have never heard of fixing at that young of an age. Is 4 months too young to get a dog fixed? Should i wait a few more months?

I am wanting to wait for a number of reasons. 1) she may be stressed because she has been to the vet a lot lately because of her ears and her allergy. 2)Easter is Sunday and i want her to be able to play with my gf's uncle's boxer. 3)money right now is tight

I agree. If you feel the need to reschedule go ahead. She is your dog and you should make the decisions not the vet. Personally I would not do it before a holiday weekend anyways in case there are complications. The reason vets use 6 months as a rule of thumb is that a dog can go into early heat at 6 months and beyond. Typically they go into their first heat around 8-9 months.

If you get a puppy from a shelter they will spay/neuter as early as 8 weeks. 4 months is not too early. We did Dozer at 4 1/2 months when all of his shots were complete. I didn't want him picking up anything nasty from the vet's. He was fine. If money is tight keep in mine sometimes they charge by weight the older the dog the heavier-more costly. It should be up to you though not your vet. Good luck.

Four months is not too young at all, but the choice is definitely up to you. There is nothing wrong with waiting another month or so. The key is to get her spayed before she goes into heat--whether you do that at 4, 5, or 6 months does not matter, just be sure to do it before she goes into heat.
