Owen got his 1st soup bone this past weekend from the butcher - and boy did he LOVE it! I gave it to him outside on a table cloth. I froze it for the next time...
But my question is this - I was talking to my friend’s cousin who feeds her dog (a westie) the barf diet, and she pours boiling water over the bone to sterilize it 1st. She does not cook it but simply pours the water over it quickly. Is that OK to do?

Yes, but it's not really necesssary. You would certainly want to make sure that you weren't cooking the bone. :)

Why would she want to sterilize the bone? Does she do the same thing with other bones she feeds? It just doesn't seem to make much sense to me.
