I recieved an email today from friend who breeds Boxers. She was contacted by a couple in Pittsburgh who have been trying to locate a boxer pup or rescue 1 y/o or younger. This couple mention a place in Landcaster that has 26 dogs and 3 litters of puppies most of the time. They sell these boxer pups for 500-600.00, if they don't sell at 12 weeks old, they sell them as "bargain pups" for 400.00. Their web site is:

Link removed - please do not post links or name people, thanks - Olly

Once the copuple started asking health questions regarding shots, etc., they were very evasive. Has anyone on the board heard of these people and what are they up to? I think a possible Boxer puppy mill going on. Can anyone get information on this place and if these dogs are being abused? nonoicon

I'm not sure this is a puppies mills seeing the web site, just not a reputable breeder, like were I took my baby (I didn't know at that time that there was different quality of breeders!!!). They don't seems to know much about the breed (they claim that male boxers usually weight 90 pounds !?!), I'm not sure they give any guarantee, they just want to make money with this! But I'm not sure the dogs are abused, just neglicted on vet visits and food quality to save money maybe, like where I take Pénéloppe. This place was very clean, the dogs had nice kennels in an inside heated place with individual doors to go outside, but there were so many dogs! Around 50 boxers and Boston terriers with the puppies! No writin garantee, pay cash, no health report. The breeder didn't ask me any questions, she was sitting playing with the puppies waiting for me to choose one. I think she loves her dogs, but she knows nothing about breeding except her own experience. When Pénéloppe had kennel cough, the breeder told me it was not that, just a cold (witch is the same!), and when she had ring worm, she told me to put javel on it and it will go by it self! Or, if I want, she offers me to take back the puppie till she's ok! Return the puppie in a kennel where there's kennel cough and ring worm? No way! She can just be worse! As you can see, it's not a good breder at all, but not a puppie mill either, something in the middle... Like, I think, Greenfield.

Lancaster Puppy Mills

We live about 45 minutes outside of Lancaster, in Maryland. Lancaster County is a huge producer of boxer pups as well as many other puppies. This is Amish country and very UNFORTUNATELY many Amish and Mennonite families have taken to puppy milling to subsidize their income. I can't even tell you the horror stories I have heard. Remember, these people generally do not believe even in electricity and look at the dogs as just another livestock. These poor dogs are kept in barns in small cages and cared for (I use this term very loosely) by very small children.

Weekly, in our local paper, these dogs are advertized for sale and it is shocking to see one place offer 25 different breeds of dogs for sale. Do a web search on Lancaster Puppy Mills and you'll get more information than you can imagine. Please take a moment and jot a letter to the different representatives often mentioned in the information. Many of these sites even have form letters you can cut and paste.

As previously mentioned, I did the search on Lancaster Puppy Mills and am furious!!!!!!
These poor animals must be rescued from this Hell and these morons who are making quite the healthy profit should be put in jail.
Is there any way for folks who live out of state to help??
