sorry, another avatar question!

Hi every one thanks for taking the time to read my question.
Basicaly i am useless and hopeless with computers and although I try my best there are some things that just go over my head. i wanted to make an avatar I did loads of searches and read all the help info. My partner reduced my chosen picture(digital camera) to 64 x 64 pixels and is waiting in "my pictures".

However when I go into my pictures I notice that it has a file name that is all numbers So am I right in thinking that when I go through edit options and press the browse button to click on this picture do I have to put in a new file name?

I tried to do this a few days ago without changing the file name and I dont think it worked. So I think I have to try again but I am worried about messing up, maybe even messing up the PC, and getting into trouble ... With boxerworld and my partner!

You need to change the file name before you try to upload it.

right click on the picture you want and chose rename

OK thanks Ill try Do I just rename it buster? or does it have to be specific

Ive changed the file name and tried to up load it . This is what happens. I click the browse button and my pictures come up . I click on my chosen picture but nothing happens. and also the my pictures box is covering up the submit modifications box is this right?. Ive tried a left and right click on my pchosen pic but nothing happens, can any one help me out? Or am I passed help!

Are you going to the usercp; then change options; change avatar; use custom avatar should be checked; then you can browse to the picture you want to use once you choose this pic you need to click open that should take you back to the boxerworld screen

Yes this is what i am doing but when I click the pic open I do not come back to bw screen I stay with my pic. I am going to try again I will let you know if it doesnt work.

No it hasnot worked. I feel so foolish.

Ive figured it now . I need to reduce the byte size a bit first though then ill be fine.

When you rename the filename, be sure to keep its extension (the .jpg at the end). The maximum file size (in bytes) that an avatar can be is 9000.

Hi Olly thanks for that I didnt know I had to keep the .jpg bit. I have not had chance to try again yet. Still need to reduce the byte size. Are all pics capable of being reduced, or are their some that for whatever reason cannot be?
