I have a question for all of you. I am starting to get concerned about my little Lucy. She is six months old and so active. When she goes outside she just runs and runs and runs. Then when she gets inside, she like to chase and fight with our cat and Pomeranian, Candi. Well, Lucy ends up getting hit a lot and getting sores all over her head and in her ears. I took her to a dog park and she was hitting her head on the picnic table and it caused a little sore. Now, this little sore has opened up to a little hole. I put antibacterial cream on it at night, and it seems to get better, but then it itches and she scratches the scab right off of it causing it to bleed again. Does anybody else have problems with their Boxers getting torn up and what is the best solution for quick healing from their sores? Thanks so much.

I think the best thing to do is ask your vet, there may be something for 'hot spots' you can just spray on.

If the sores are what are often referred to as "hot spots" your vet can set you up with a treatment. This happens to Fibber occassionally- we don't really know why, but it worked quickly .( if I remember correctly, it was some sort of spray and an antibiotic to thwart infection.)

This sounds like it could be an abcess from a cat bite. They are nasty because they are narrow and deep - a perfect place for bacteria to fester. Keeping it "open" by removing the scab is good, it lets the infection drain out - but she may also need antibiotics.
