Soon to be new Boxer owner

Hello everyone my name is Doug and I live in Washington State. I just reserved our boxer puppy tonight and will pick her up on Sunday. I'm so excited. It's been a couple years since we've had a dog in the house. I wasn't too sure about getting another dog as I was enjoying my freedom, but I just couldn't resist. I missed the companionship and unconditional love that comes with a dog. We have two cats, but it's not the same. ;-) My wife and I went around and around on what breed we wanted and kept coming back to the Boxer. We wanted something strong in stature yet lovable and something energetic but not a complete spaz. My wife has recently taken up jogging so I wanted something that she could take when she heads out for a jog. I'm a little nervous about the hole puppy training but I am determined to do it right this time around in hopes of having that "perfect" dog. Our previous dogs were great, but I wish we had done some things differently. I've already started reading and hope to gain even more insight and tips from this site.

I can't wait for Sunday.

Welcome to Boxer World Doug and Joy! How old is your new baby? What are you going to name her? I'll be looking forward to seeing pictures of her!

She'll be 8 weeks when we get her. We've decided on Hannah for her name. I saw that name and it instantly hit me as the one. Later I was browsing the website where I found her and discovered that her Grandma's name was Hannah. It was quite freaky.

I have a picture I got from the breeder but I'm not sure how to post it here. Hmmm? Better do some reading.

Congrats on your puppy! I have a 10 week old who we have had almost 3 weeks. It has been the hardest thing I have done in a long time but we are getting a routine. She is so cute and when she snuggles her little face in my neck I melt! This site is invaluable for info on boxers. Have you decided what kind of food to feed her? That was one of my biggest issue. I wanted to find her a high quality corn and wheat free food. Good luck!!
