First off, let me start by saying this has been a terribly long past couple of weeks ... between my grandma's death, my friends, Mark, school, and work, I'm about to go out of my mind!

Something is not at all okay with our baby girl Asia. Since this weekend was my grandma's funeral, my entire family was there, and their dogs too. Asia ran around with my Aunt Jane's crazy chocolate lab, Molly, all weekend long. Asia is a big bundle of energy but even Molly wore her out. Needless to say, she has been sleeping since we got home.

This morning, Mark was walking out of the apartment to go to work and Asia's best friend (who she hasn't seen in awhile), Josie, was outside. Asia got up real quick and Josie ran into our apartment and they began playing. Asia was growling a lot and I was thinking maybe she was just tired. So, they went outside and were playing just fine. All of a sudden, Josie swatted Asia (she is a Boxer, too) and Asia fell on her side and didn't get up. ((I was inside, Mark was outside, when all this was happenning but I ran outside as soon as I saw her laying on the ground)). Mark was trying to lift her up and she was just like jelly. Her eyes were open but she looked confused and she wouldn't stand up - like her whole body was numb or something - and she urinated while on her side. We eventuelly got her up and ran inside to check her.

She wobbled inside and instead of drinking water (like normal), she went and layed down on her pillow ... I checked her gums and they were ghost white!

I got her in my car and ran over to our vet's office. They were so nice, they got me in right away. The vet checked her over and said it didn't sound like a seizure. I asked if it could have been from her getting in to anything and he told me No because they wouldn't explain why her gums went white. His prognosis (which isn't based on any facts as of yet) is that it is heart related.

He told me this could be the first of a series of events, or we may never see this happen again. I wondered if it could have just been from exhaustion? Everything I named he told me that couldn't be it because it wouldn't have caused her gums to go white.

So, she is still at the vets. I have nothing to do but sit here and wait. They are going to do two chest films and call me and we'll go from there. I just called them (she hasn't been there but for like 20 minutes) and told them that if they find anything seriously wrong, call me and tell me what they are going to do because I will do ANYTHING to keep her healthy!

Does anyone know what this could have been other than heart problems? Is that what it sounds like? Does anyone else have any other stories that could help me out with what I'm dealing with?

This is so hard - she's only a little over a year and a half old. If something happens to her, Mark and I will be absolutely devastated. I know it sounds crazy but she's like a child to us. Not the kind of child that we buy clothes for (except for cute sweaters during the winter:rolleyes: ), but the type of child that you start to miss when you're gone for a few hours or all day.

Anyway, the vet's office will be calling me at 2 to let me know what the X Rays showed, if anything, then I will be picking her up soon thereafter, hopefully.

Send us some get well wishes and healing vibes because we are in dire need of those right about now! :(

Could it be heat related?? On Father's Day weekend last year my Layla started staggering and just collapsed and I couldn't lift her up. Her gums were also white. After a few minutes she got on her feet, still with a blank stare and I splashed some water on her. She was fine after a few minutes, but I immediately thought it was heart related but when I called my vet with the symptoms, he thought it was classic symptoms of heat exhaustion. The weird thing is was that it was really not that hot out that day, but Boxers are just so much more sensitive.

I hope it is nothing serious with Asia as I know how it is when are babies are sick.

Oh poor Asia! I feel so bad for you, you've had such a bad time lately. I've never experienced anything like this so I can't even begin to speculate what might be causing it. I hope you hear good news from the vet. Will keep fingers and paws crossed and sending lots of healing good-luck vibes.

Poor Asia and poor Mommy!!! We are sending tons of ((((((positive vibes)))))) We hope and pray that it is nothing serious and Asia will be back to her normal self soon. Bella sends lots of slobbers and butt wiggles to Asia. Please let us know as soon as you hear something! Think positive! :)

Layla's Mom - You know, I asked him if it was from exhaustion but I never asked if it could be heat related. I will do that soon. How long did her gums stay pale? Asia's were pale when we brought her inside, and got even paler while I was getting ready to take her out to the car. They were pale until we got to PetSmart and then they got color again.

I don't even know if I said this in the first post because of how in shock I am right about now. When he was listening to her heart, he did it twice, took off his watch and did it twice more. He looked at me, gave me a huff and I knew something wasn't right. He said that the rhythm of her heart was fine but the rate was at about a 70 when normally it should be 100-120 in a pet at PetSmart. She was very lethargic, though. We are all pretty stumped!

We go to Banfield, which is a part of PetSmart, in Frisco, but we live in Denton. Sooo, because this was an emergency, we went to the one in Denton, and I am not very happy with this vet. He and his staff are all nice, but they're a little stuck up. When I was there, I kept asking him questions and he acted like I was a big waste of his time. I can't remember what I asked, but he kind of chuckled at the question, and it wasn't funny. Obviously, it was an obvious answer to him, but of course not to me. Maybe he was laughing because I'm like a nervous 'Mom' or something? I could've gotten the wrong impression, but who knows. I'm just really upset right now with anything and everything!

I told them to check for everything that it could be, but they keep telling me they think it is heart related. We will for sure be going to Frisco tomorrow bright and early!

After we pick her up, I will be taking her and her X Rays to our normal office in Frisco. I can't go until tomorrow because I have to work this evening, but I'm making Mark stay home with her to make sure she will be okay ...

Arrghh, this sucks! Anywho, thanks for the healing vibes and get well wishes - keep 'em coming because the Lord knows we need them right about now!
