Asia is in my thoughts and prayers...... Can't wait to hear the good news on Friday!!! Think Positive!! and hope for the best! are the results something instant? will you get them that day? Doja had a shunt test one time that was instant, called scintigriphy... don't know what kind of test Asia will have. I'm sorry Haley, I must have missed the name of the test.... which one is it that she has tomorrow? is it the ekg? do you know about the procedure and what not?

How has Asia been doing this week? How are you and Mark holding up?

I hope everything goes great tomorrow and there are some good results from the vet. I am keeping my toes and fingers crossed for Asia and hope she can get a clean bill of health soon. Hey you guys!

We are doing okay today ... awaiting tomorrow morning anxiously ... I don't even know how I'm going to get to sleep tonight!! :eek:

She is having a colored dopplar echocardiogram - it will show how the blood in her heart is flowing through colors - and as far as I know, we should get the results as soon as they are through. They are talking about maybe having to sedate her a bit, which scares me (I don't like that word)!

We are thinking much more positive than we were last week. It's still hard, and I don't want to get my hopes up. She has been so healthy looking and vibrant (just depressed) these past two weeks, which makes it hard to think that something really could be wrong. Which is why I'm trying not to get my hopes up!

We have a busy day ahead of us (house hunting, maybe apartment hunting, shopping for wedding gifts, etc...) so I probably won't be on here today. Asia is coming with us so this should be interesting (I am scared to leave her home by herself in case something happens)! We will update tomorrow morning as SOON as we get back, for sure!!

If you guys do sedate her, make sure they don't use anything with ACE (acepromazine) because it should not be used on the Boxer breed - it is fatal.

Wow, that test sounds very similar to the one Doja had. Except they had to inject radioactive dye into her bottom, and they watched it travel to see if it went through the liver or around it, determing if a shunt is present.

Hopefully they will let you stay with her, or at least near by ..... I couldn't be there with Doja because of the radioactive-ness (sp) But They called me just as soon as they saw the results.

Well, I know its going to be hard, but hope you guys get some rest tonight. Will look for your post tomorrow

I too have just caught this thread.......
I want you to know that my Arley was only 8 months old when I found out he had cardiomyapathy (sp) we saw the cardio Dr, had the doppler done, and the holter monitor done too. But it wasn't til the holter came back that it really hit me that he was ill, he has a SEVERE case, the worst possible rating and he has been on meds ever since. He is going to be 3 yrs old here real soon and he has been fine. I do the holter every six months just to make sure his meds are still working and that they do not need to be adjusted.
He is a normal dog who runs and plays hard and he is doing just great, it is always in the back of my mind but I know that I am doing all I can for him right now and that he has the best life possible til then.
It will all work out, I went through the same thing you are going through and I know it is easier said then done but it will all be ok, you will see.
Have you talked to his breeder??
