I too hope your vet is wrong and it is the irregular heart beat and not cancer. Hope she will be fine.

You just described what My Buster has been going through this summer. He has had the x-rays, sonogram, EKG & the Holter monitor. They could not find anything wrong (like cardiomyopathy). The blood work all showed normal. He even had a spell like this while he was on phenobarb. We never did find anything wrong with him. Good luck to you all. He has been taken off all medications.

Hi all. My sister's 11 year old boxer, Roxie, was having episodes such as these. She was also drinking excessively, etc. They believe she has Cushons Disease (sp?), but the tests are very unreliable and the treatment very expensive, so my sister is debating about what to do. Good luck to all of you with your babies.

I hope that Greta is ok but it sound so familiar to me. Just like my 9 year old last year in June and it was not her heart.
My prayers are with you and hope for the best.

Thank you all for your encouragement.

I knew when we adopted Greta that she was an older dog (10 1/2 years) and could develope problems, but as I love all Boxers I decided
that I had enough love to give her a comftorble home for as long as I could.
I feel that the last year has been well worth it and I can only pray that we can have more time to love this very speacial lady.

The vet had asked me if Greta was drinking excesivly but she has been "normal" in all other aspects. I guess he was considering this "Cushings (?) Disease".

She seems to be fine today, her normal "Couch Potatoe" self

He told us not to exercise her in the heat of the day...thats was never her problem

She is the kind of dog that makes you think of the preverbial "German Granny" making strudal in the kitchen! The only thing she likes better then sleeping is eating!

I'll let you all know the results when they come in...thanks again for letting me "unload" on you all.

Teresa,
It was Hemangisarcoma. A type of cancer that travels through the blood. Very fatal and quick. Thank goodness we live in SE Pa and near the Univ of Penn Vet school. We did treat her but after 19 weeks we lost her.
It has been almost a year, and I can't type this without crying.
Mutti is a wonderful addition to our family and I love her so much but still miss the antics of Hume.
Please Please Please if you dog shows these sign whether the outcome is heat, heart of cancer TAKE THEM TO YOUR VET quickly.
Bo

It doesn't look like greta has cancer! Yeah!!!
All of her tests came back as normal so now we just have to figure out what did cause the sizures.
She has been very sleepy and clumsy from the Phenobarb, and I may ask the Vet to lower her dosage or find an alternative med for her.
If any one has sugestions please feel free to let me know about them.
Thanks and I will let you all know how things are going.
