We have a male boxer that is 15 months old (Stonewall Jackson), he is about 60lbs, and nutered. I could not stand the thought that Jackson never had anyone to play with other than us. So, I suggested to my husband that we get another Boxer after plenty of begging. We brought Chloe (female) who is 10 weeks home yesterday, and Jackson the male is going absolutly crazy!!!! He has not been violent but wants to be at her constantly. We can't hardly put Chole down for fear he will eat her for lunch. Does anyone have a solution on how to get him to chill out?

I'm sure he's just really excited to have a new playmate. Is he used to being around other dogs? If not then it's all new to him, and I could understand his excitement. If you're really scared that he will hurt her, I would keep him on leash and just make sure he doesn't squish her, but I would definately let him check her out and get used to having her around.

Try this

When introducing a new dog to your pack there are a few things you should do.
First, put your current dog outside, then let the new dog expolre the whole house for a while, he will sniff and run and check everything out. When he calms down, take the current pet to a neutral area (front yard?), on a leash, then bring out new dog, on a leash. Let him sniff her all over, then when he is calmed down, let them play out side for awhile, then come on in when they are tired. This should help.

Exactly. Patience is the most important thing here. You need to introduce them SLOWLY and with the least amount of stress as possible, meaning, YOU need to act like it's no big deal, and do it in a neutral place. Remember, our babies pick up on our moods, so if you are freaking out, chances are that's not helping the situation. They will be fine once they get used to each other.

When we got Crash, Tyson would NOT leave him alone. Crash couldn't as much as walk without Tyson pouncing on top of him, chewing on him, licking him, etc. Luckily they were both puppies so I didn't worry much about one hurting the other. It took about a week for the "newness" to wear off and now they are the best of friends.

When we brought Finn home Star was a bit funny around him.

After the introductions we put Finn in his crate and just let Star sniff around it for a while. Finn had a sleep and when he woke up we let him out for a pee. Star followed him about the house constantly for about a week. She would not give him a minutes peace. It did wear off and as Star got back into her routine with plenty of walks and extra attention.
