I love the natural look for the ears.

Makes the dog look normal, and cuter.

IMO, the pinned ears make Boxers and Dobies look "mean".

I've NEVER seen a Boxer with natural tail. Could someone please post a picture of a Boxer with its normal tail?

One other observation.

I've seen two kinds of docked tails in Boxers.

The most common for Boxers seems to be a long dock (about 3").

The least common kind I will call the "Rottweiler" dock. I've seen a few Boxers that have short docks--an inch or less like a Rottweiler has.

Are both acceptable under AKC rules?

I prefer the looks of the short dock. Maybe that is because I've had a Rottweiler before.

However, if I had the choice I'd probably get a natural tailed Boxer (although very few breeders seem to leave tails on it seems).

Four soft & silky floppy expresive ears for us, and two short nubbies. They are both about two inches, and seem to be to the second vertebrate.

I have to admit I just LUV the nubbies! You shoulda seen the looks on their faces when I sneeked up (whilst they where napping) and tried to measure nubbies. They slammed them little flap doors SHUT, and looked at me like I was nuts! And I will add, they seem custom cut to fit, right over that little opening they cover!

My brothers has his natural tail and is always beating it up and always has it is some stage of bleeding or healing, fighting it from festering, and him licking chewing on it. Vet says it might have to go if they can't get it healed goo soon.

El Duke

Boxer Buddy
Duke has natural ears and his tail is docked. The breeder had docked his tail. I love those floppy ears.

Roxy has natural ears but a docked tail. I love her little nubby-and when I see it going a mile a minute when she's excited I'm glad that it's not longer cuz she would hurt someone (me)! I never even entertained the thought of cropping her ears. Seemed like too much money and trouble to go to if I wasn't going to show her. I do like the look of the cropped ears but not the effort it would take to get them to look good! I like her floppy fly-away ears anyway. I was disappointed at first that I never got her ears to lay correctly (after teething they just were never the same again) but I've learned to love them just the way they are. They just add to her sweet, goofy personality!

I got Tess from a shelter and she has natural ears and a docked tail. I kinda like her little nubby! I'm sometimes glad it isn't a long tail, she's always shaking her nubby and if it was long, nothing would be safe! Her whole butt shakes too, it's soooo cute!

Jazmyn

Boxer Buddy
2nd or 3rd vertebrae

Our breeder told us when we got Jaz that she did Jaz's tail to the third vertebrae because that was better if we chose to show Jaz. I don't know how true that is.

Beasley has natural ears and so does his Dobie friend, Jazz. I had never seen a Dobie without the crop and he really does look a whole lot "nicer" with the floppy ears. People ask us all the time if they're really a Boxer and Doberman.
