I just had to share with you all how proud I am of little Nessa, who we adopted a few months ago. To give you some background, prior to us adopting her she had spent the first 2 years of her life in a crate almost 24 x7.

Last night she graduated from Beginners Obedience Training. It was a 7-week class, one night a week. Its amazing the progress she made in those 7 weeks. The first night it took forever to persuade her to even go into the building, in fact I ended up picking her up and carrying her in, and she spent the entire class hiding behind me shaking in fear, and would shy away from the other dogs or anyone who tried to say hello. She was miserable, but every week got a little better. To the point last night she walked in there very happy and confident and had lots of wiggles for anyone who wanted to say Hi and was even playing with some of the other dogs – I am just so proud of her I had to share.

I am going to continue taking her to the next level of classes because its just great for her confidence never mind the commands she is learning :)

I put her graduation photo in my gallery.

awwwwwwww that's awesome! it's good to hear she is building up her confidance. until how old will you keep her in obedience classes? tank has never had any but they sound like they would be great for socialization.

Congratulations!!! What a terrific job she did. The classes are great for socialization. We have one in our area that is called Real life 101 where we meet every week in highly populated areas. It is great for the dogs to get used to people, noise, and other elements. Good luck in your other classes!!!:) :)

Congrats to Nessa!!! I always get so sad reading about rescues, but I'm soooo happy to hear that she is adjusting and that you are keeping her in the classes for HER confidence.....like you said...never mind the commands she's learning:)

I always get so sad reading about rescues

my question is...are you sad because they have to be rescued, OR are you sad because they come from a rescue? the comment just confused me, i hope it's the first one rather than the latter because rescue is a wonderful thing....most of what these dogs have been involved in or been exposed to before rescue is not at all good...believe me i know.

was this particular boxer baby rescued from a bad situation or did she come from someone who had rescued her?...again confused. i am NOT trying to make any waves, i just want everyone to know that reputable rescues are great organizations that do so much for unwanted, abandoned, abused or fogotten dogs. and everyone can help out by donating items, money or even more importatnly your time. you can always be a foster yourself to help out those dogs in need...

so don't be just sad, be proactive :p seek out your local rescues and help out!:D
