So mad at neighbors! Thora exposed to Parvo!

I would insist that she get transferred to the e-vet for the night. 7 hours is a long time for a puppy and she could easily go from "kinda sick" to "really, really sick and needs immediate treatment" and no one would be there to notice.

Please, please, please don't leave her at the vet overnight unattended!!!

Even if you have to go pick her up and bring her to the emergency vet yourself, she needs to go. She would be better off at home with you watching her for the 7 hours than being alone.

i agree, it is a long time. i'm going to talk to the vet about it when i hear from her. if the xrays indicate that she has ingested something that caused the vomiting, it should be ok to leave her there. otherwise, i agree that the e-vet is a good idea. it's only 15 minutes from us, so if i have to i will take her.

Oh no! I can't believe that!! I hope little Thora will be ok and it turns out to be nothing serious! I'll say a prayer for you (your sanity) and your girl. I agree about the e-vet. If it serious enough for her to have to stay overnight....she needs to atleast have someone monitor her...or whats the point???

I can't believe this is happening to Thora and you. If this were me, and after all that you went through to find your baby girl, and the neighbors had a pup with parvo I would be absolutely WILD!

I really am. I'm starting to wonder if I did something awful in a past life that warrants this kind of bad luck. It's just unbelievable...

I just hope if it IS Parvo they don't send her home early because she's not testing positive for it. That's one of my biggest fears. I hope that if it is Parvo we caught it early enough that she has a good chance of recovering. If I lose my baby girl I will seriously wig out... like, i don't even know. I'm just shocked and speechless. I swear by the end of this year all of my hair will be gray from stress.

Just got off the phone with the on-duty nurse. The good news she reports is Thora appears happy and spunky and perks right up when they walk by her. She also hasn't vomited since she was admitted, but that's not surprising since she hasn't had anything to eat or drink. She also hasn't passed a stool yet (also not surprising since she threw up her breakfast and has nothing in her). They are holding off on food for at least 12 hours and she has started an antibiotic. The vet is at a board meeting right now, and the nurse says she should be calling me wen she returns with the xray and blood work results.

Fingers crossed!

I am still worried that if they find nothing, that she could still have Parvo and we could end up right back in there, possibly worse for wear. She's had nothing that would cause this kind of stomach upset. I don't even give her treats since they give her diarrhea.

Don't get too far ahead of yourself!!....which I know is hard when it comes to our babies!! I read that if caught early Parvo has a high recovery rate. It does seem that If this is Parvo...you caught it way early! You are an awesome Boxer mom to be so observant of Thora, her surrounding, and what she is exposed to. She is obviously in great hands!!! I hope the vet can give you an update on your little pumpkin soon!!!!!

After this I can see Thora becoming "Bubble Boxer"....and I don't blame you!!!

btw- did i mention DH put up a 6 foot privacy fence last night?? (just on that side) my wonderful husband is currently working 10 hour shifts every day (manual labor job), and catered to my panic by working an additional 2 hours in our yard putting fence up. i owe him big
