So Johann caught a duck the other day.....

The barn I keep my horse at has a pond with a bunch of "pet" ducks. Usually he just stares longingly from afar and can't get to them because of the deep pond. :o

But, he managed to find a stupid, suicidal duck a few days ago. Wandering around a field by itself. So Johann, another boxer, and a lab thought it was just the most fun moving, quacking chew toy ever.

Bad, bad dog is now not allowed to be off leash at the barn. Especially since there's a bunch of tiny ducklings now.

I was suprised (or just relieved) that he didn't actually try to kill it. Just rolled it around with his nose, boxed it a few times, etc. Who knows if we all hadn't run over and grabbed the 3 dogs. He's now know for teaching labs to attack ducks.

Cain loves birds too. He caught one the other day. Had one wing in his mouth and the bird was squaking and flapping the other wing. If I wasn't so horrified that he had a live creature in his mouth, I would have thought it was hilarious just for the expression on his face. He was just so proud and happy that he caught it.

my dog caught a canadian goose youngling and i thought it was dead,luckily after he dropped it ,it came to and ran to meet the other geese in the lake,4 weeks after that it still walks with a severe limp,a few more weeks and they will begin to fly,still not sure if it will be able to,,,life is always interesting with a boxer.

Thankfully the duck survived the incident with no injuries. He's kind of a stupid duck, they have a nice pond but he prefers to live a puddle on the other side of the property

The ducks can't fly (clipped wings?), so thats why he was able to catch him. I can't imagine the fun Johann would have with a "bite sized" bird. He's come close to catching robins a few times....Maine seems to be full of overly brave, not so smart birds. He'll stand like a pointer too (1 front foot in the air) for a while too....must be a confused boxer.

I can picture Cain running around with his new toy, until mean Mom took it away.

some dogs are born "killers",i think boxers however were a sign that god has a sense of humor,the most they were ever designed to "kill" were their toys

My dogs love to chase bunnies. One time, Boo (who is extremely quick) caught up to the bunny and instead of biting, she pushed it with her nose (she does this to our cat too). The bunny was running so fast that it flipped over. That's the most our dogs have ever done to a 'wild animal'. I hope she taught that bunny a lesson .

Actually there was one dead bird in the yard already (and they are 'bite sized' robins ), but the one that was still alive, I haven't been able to find it. Hopefully it got free. I guess there are a lot of stupid birds in ontario canada too.
