Thanks to everybody who replied. I was really nervous at first about talking on this subject, figured I'd get animal control called to my house and my boxerworld account deleted. I'm glad there were so many people out there with constructive replies to my thread. I'm definitely feeling better with how I'm raising Abby in a less stressful house without spanking. She already seems more happy!! I've ordered 'culture clash' and a couple other training books to keep me on the right path for training our little girl in the future. Thanks again!!

I would just like to say that I am happy that you have seen the light and are on the right path. If you use positive reinforcement you and your dog will be so much happier. And if you have questions you have a very good resource in BW. When you know better you do better. And Shhhhhhhhhh! when you are watching sports already  ;)

Ditto! Glad to see you're doing the right thing in learning the proper way to do things and gaining your baby's trust! Props to you! :)

Well I just felt the need to add that little Abby is soooooo adorable :)

And as for potty training, it will take time and lots of patience. If you catch her in the act (inside) give a firm "no, no" or "uh, uh" then scoop her up and place her on the ground outside to finish her business. As soon as she's pottying (outside) praise her like mad. Use your best 'happy' voice. Warning: You will look a bit dorky while saying "good girl" and dancing a jig, but the payoff is worth it  You can even slip her a treat if you'd like.

She'll eventually connect that pottying outside wins her praise and will quickly be asking to go outside to do her business.

But be patient, young pups don't have the bladder control to go long periods without peeing, so you'll need to make sure she gets plenty of chances to relieve herself. Good luck!
