So I have had Duke for 2weeks, and he is 9wks old. He is just a big hunk of love. He is so sweet and laid back. He is just a huge teddy bear that just wants to be held all day. He does play, but all I have to do is tell him no if he gets to rough with my son or the other dog and he stops.

So my question is how long is this going to last? Could he just be a melow fellow or shold I prepare myself?

Maybe you got a special one;) Mine were laid back when they were younger too, give them a few months and they will be tearing all around!! Puppies sleep alot, after that initial phase they are little bundles of energy. To this day mine will still cuddle all the time....they are little cuddlebugs:)

When we got CJ, she also was a sleepy puppy. She is now 4 months old and quite "wonky" as we like to call her. She burns around the house and will play endlessly...enjoy that sleepiness while it lasts..he will wake up. And then...let the fun begin..they are great when they are playful!!

I am envious. I got Oscar at 7 weeks and he was a terror from day one. Burning around ,chewing on everything, and having selective hearing. He is now a year old and has mellowed out tremendously. When I start getting an itch for a little sis or bro for him I just remember those times and enjoy the quiet. I am sure I will forget and buckle and get a puppy but not until he is 3 years old, I am just enjoying sleeping through the night for now. LOL

Prepare yourself! It only gets better. I love the way Max has turned from the sleepy pup to an energetic love bug!! He runs as fast as the wind but when it is over he snuggles up against me like my kids did when they were little. I love it.

Rusty is 4 months and 1 week today. He was a sleepy guy when we got him at 6 1/2 weeks but loved to snuggle and still does. He especially loves laying his head on whoevers head he's sleeping next to. We know when he's tired, cuz he'll walk around us and whine until someone sits down and offers a lap. Then it's lights out. He now plays fetch like crazy. I suggest checking into puppy class at Petsmart or whatever is around you. I think it's helped keep Rusty from taking over the whole house. He started at about 10 weeks. He's very well behaved for a 4 month old.

Mine has been a "mellow fellow" since I brought him home at 9 weeks and at almost two years he is still that same way! All of my family has fallen in love with boxers b/c of Cisco. He realy is about as close to a perfect dog as you can get. His only drawback is his boxer gas!
He was the same way as yours, always listened when he was told no, never jumps on people. I have yet to see Cisco do a "boxer burn" like I read about on here. He's great! So there is hope that it sticks!

I think it might change in a few weeks.
That's good advice!!! It is possible that you just have a big ol' lazy guy!! My Ruckus has always been lazy, since the day I brought him home. He is now <<drumroll, please>> 14 years old. When people ask how he has lived that long, I answer, he's only moved around as much as a typical 5 year old.
