Wow, talk about a workout!! lol.

Just got done giving Luka a bath and as I'm sure you all know, the bigger they get, the harder they are to handle (and he's only 13 weeks....yikes!!!).

I have to keep his collar on him so I have something that isn't slippery to hang on to him by or else he would never stay in the tub.

So what sorta tricks or methods do you guys use when giving your lil furbabys a bath? Help a newbie out here, especially for the months to come. I can just see me fighting a 70+ pound Boxer to stay in the tub!!! lol.

I think the trick is to get them acclimated to the bath while they're still small and manageable. Since we got our Dempsey (8 weeks), we gave him baths of just water. Now at 4 months, he is a BIT more comfortable with the bath. This way, hopefully, as he grows, he will get used to the fact that he just has to sit through it.

Btw: the whole time keep him excited "good boy"...high pitched happy voices and kisses :)

Just keep in mind to close your eyes just in time for the soapy shake~!!

I'm pretty lucky too, Sadie and Star both do good during bath time, I can't say they jump right in, but they don't mind much, I talk to them alot while bathing, telling them how good they are, it seems to work. Try a treat or to that might help :)

Calla is not too fond of bath-time either. In our new apt. there is not a bathtub, just a standup shower. Needless to say, it is kinda cramped with me trying to wash her! She just kinda hangs her head too, but she drinks tons of water and licks the soap off of herself.

Buster loves the water..except when its in the bathtub! We have learned that Mommy kinda helps with the front half and he jump in with the back! We put a towel in the bathtub so he dosen't slip around and it helped alot because he wasn't scared anymore. When he is in the bathtub I put his favorite toy Spot (Bad Cuz) in there with him and sit on the side of the tub...where he can't jump out. I use a cup to put water on him and pet him while I'm doing it. I also talk to him and tell him hes a good boy! We finish with the bath with towels on the floor and he jumps out by himself. Dry him off and watch out! Boxer Burn time! Then treats for being such a good boy!

Hope this helps!

I take Oscar in the shower with me when I go. He's not happy about the whole bath thing, but he tolerates it because he gets to be with mommy. He usually stands there with a total Hang-Dog expression on his face. But he never tries to jump out.
that's too darn CUTE

Jasmine and Hailey aren't thrilled with baths in the tub, but they tolorate them. Jasmine gets more enjoyment out of someone else being bathed. The hand held shower attachment is great and much better than a large cup for rinsing. For my one cocker I've got the suction cup thing with cable that slips over her head to keep her in the tub. Obviously cockers require more baths and grooming than boxers. Thanks goodness you only have to give the boxers bathes about once every two months.

Jasmine enjoys her outside baths more so than the tub ones. I think she likes it more because she bites the water coming out the hose.

I think I got lucky cause I bath Charlie Paper in the shower with me, so all I have to do is point to the shower and say "go on" and Charlie Paper goes in. Not before giving me a look of death of course. If I try to bathe him with the hose outside, he gets very offended, he's used to high class treatment.

Samson receives LOTS of baths - he loves mud (esp. stinky, swamp mud frogicon ). He now knows the command "bath" and jumps into the tub. I wish I had a handheld shower, but I have to use a cup or bucket to rinse him.

You can buy an attachment that goes right on your shower head that turns into a hand held one. Then take it off when you aren't bathing him. I got mine at Petco and it is great!

Mya just jumps in the tub and waits for me to wash her. I leave the water running a little and she plays with that. She loves her bath...the pic in my gallery of her peeking out of the tub says it all!

Beau doesn't exactly volunteer to take a bath, but once I've shoved him into the tub, he's fine. I use a pitcher to rinse him and I get soaked during the process. However, the tub in my new house is very shallow, so it looks like Beau will become an outside bather. Even though I get drenched, I love the boys' bathtime. I have a picture of my boys and my brother's JRT in my tub all at the same time. It was quite a fiasco, but it's one adorable picture!
