You may try popping a couple of damp towels in the frig or freezer . When the dog starts getting too warm drape the cool towels over their necks or better yet across their bellies when they are laying down. Show handlers keep small wet towels in their coolers and use them between shows on the dogs.

Thanks Wanda, for the tips, I've just shoved a towel in the freezer for Millie, she's panting like a steam engine at the moment, and looks really miserable... you are all so much used to these high temperatures than us lot, we can however, tell you how to deal with a Boxer in cold weather !

Look me up,for some pie mash, and eels..Matter of fact I bet there are a few others here who would love to meet you!!!... Imagine the conversation, from two little women with big gobs, nobody would get a word in edgeways!!..We'll make it a proper get together, and show you a good old fashioned 'knees up'...Yeah, wellington boots are rubber boots you wear in the rain, named after Lord Wellington (pretty much standard footwear here all year round!)..Pity you can't bring the brat pack too...I'd love to meet those two cutie's, and we could hold Carsy up to a statue of Old Winnie, and marvel at the resemblance

Here in Mississippi it's sweltering! Highs in the 90's this week with 70 to 80% humidity. Yikes! My upstairs gets way hot in the afternoon so I've put in window A/C units to help the central air cool it down. Piper loves it! We can get in the bed and actually get snuggly without sweating to death! LOL!

I llove this thread and have laughed out loud at the 'verbage' used more than one time!! How fabulous you all are!! Needless to say i don't envy you at all with the temps and no central air....I am rather addicted to mine and have fans on top of it to keep us cool. Its been in the low to mid 90's for awhile down here and i am just praying for the bill not to top $250.00 just yet, but i will admit it is worth far more than that. I love the idea of the cool towels!! Very smart idea!!'
Good luck and keep cool!

Here in Texas I keep my AC running year-round. I only used my central heat a total of about 5-10 days this past winter. If you can call that a winter. I keep Rusty cooled down by turning on the sprinkler for him when he's getting too hot or filling up the kiddy pool. The boy thinks he's part water spaniel. I don't evny anyone the cold winters that any of you beyond the Red River have to indure. I don't like the cold at all. But we still complain about the heat here anyway.

Oh Donna and Marion you both crack me up... truly.

I know you brits dont get much warm weather over there.
Friend of mines mum came over from the Uk last year in the middle of an Australian summer. It was like in the low 40 (degrees), I dont know what that translates to but IT IS BLOODY HOT. We have a very dry heat here, although sometimes it turns and become really really humid. Needless to say... she struggled.

Anyway, the damp towels really work well, if the dog will keep it on. I also read on a health site that if the dog is super super hot the best way to cool down is a damp towel around the neck area and also one betwen the legs covering the belly.
To go a step further, do that and have the fan on the dog and it is fantastic.

Im lucky to have airconditioning for summer, but the towels really do work.

Enjoy your heat over there...
