thats a perfect example of a dog biting a child and the dog is in the wrong. i may be over animal crazy but i never even let my son chase ducks in the park because i think that is mean let alone dogs. the parents are the first to cry when something happens to their children but yet they arent there to make sure somethings doesnt happen. i dont have any dog parks around here but it sounds like they should have a monitor who watches what goes on in these parks since they are not for kids anyway.

The popular thing, for a long time has been for NO animals to be in public parks or on public beaches. People just didn't clean up after their pets, there were instances of kids getting bit, etc., etc., etc.
Now, slowly, slowly, they are starting to open up these "dog parks." the two parks near me state that NO kids will be allowed in the "dog park." But, on Saturday, kids over 14, with supervision, can come in.
Dogs play patterns and instincts are different from ours. All it is going to take, is for ONE little kid to get seriously hurt at one of these "dog Parks," and they will all close up, and we can go back to having no place to bring our animals.
Snoop and Dottie run so fast and hard at our park, that if a toddler were to unexpectdly get in their path,....well, I shudder to think about it. Right next to the "Dog Park" is the "Children's Park," with swings and toys and with a double fence between the two areas, so no little fingers can get nibbled on.
I have 15 grandchildren, ranging from newborn to 14 years old. (Two sets of twins in there, too.) Our dogs are socialized with our kids. The babies are presented to the dogs, who start out by being allowed to lick their feet. I would never let my GRANDKIDS, who the dogs KNOW, be left alone in a room together with my dogs, without an adult! And I trust my dogs!! But, better to err on the side of caution.
Dogs are NOT allowed in the fenced in kiddie play yards, or on the tennis courts, etc., and little kids have no business in the "DOG PARK," where they could be possibly at the mercy of strange dogs, with all of them being off leash, and could risk getting hurt. Again, being safe than sorry.
Anyway, just wanted to vent my opinion. I love kids AND animals too much to see anything happen to any of them.

Why cant kids leave us alone!?!?!

Yesterday I went to the park with Napoleon and i was trying to walk him but we got attacked by three little kids who just wanted to play with him. I dont mind when the pet him a little but i hate it when they follow us around and dont leave us alone. i am getting so tired of it!

I have only had problems at the dog park with other dogs picking on my puppy. Now I am not condoning small children going to the dog park, and there should be a age limit. I do take my 8 year old niece with me on occasion. So maturity of the child should be taken into consideration. She is wonderful with dogs, she has sort of a sixth sense about dogs and small children. She can't decide if she wants to be a vet, teacher, or dog trainer when she grows up. My biggest problem is keeping her from walking through the mud, or jumping in the pond with all the dogs. The jumping and slobbering for her is part of the fun. Some of the dogs are stuck to her like glue, to the dismay of the owners. She knows the rules, no wrestling, chasing or running around the dogs. That just might be to much excitement for some dogs. And always asking the owner first before touching ,picking up or petting any dog. She even nicknamed some of them, her favorite is a toy size dog, she calls her Tissue, because she can grab her up stuff her in her pockets and carry her around everywhere. Ultimately it is the resposiblilty of the parents to determine if that particular child is well behaved enough to hang with the dogs if not find a babysitter.
