So as everyone knows, boxers can get really excited when new people come around! My Darby LOVES company and after she gets her wiggles out after a few minutes she settles down and is fine. It's the few minutes that are tough. She doesn't jump up on people with her feet, but she stands up and licks people on the face if they bend over to pet her! Just last night a guy was making her sit and shake then was getting ready to pet her and she just stood on her back feet and slurped his face! I know it's cause she's so excited but not everyone enjoys kisses. And like I said, once she says hi to everyone, she's fine, don't even know she's around. Should I tell guests to ignore her until she's calmed? Keep her leashed? I have been staying right next to her and telling her "off" "settled" and sit all commands she knows. She listens but you can tell she really doesn't want to! She would rather be up in everyone's faces! :)

I don't know if it will help (we've had one of those dogs that could get her tongue in your mouth from across the room! I swear!), but I've taught the rest of my boxers to "smooch" - which means just bump with their nose onto your nose or lips, instead of adding the notorious boxer slurp. No tongue is the key. Having "Smooch" on a cue seems to give them a safer outlet for that face to face interaction when your visitors lean over and you can see it coming... LOL. :)

But it takes a while to teach the pups. :)

Sounds like my baby girl, Struddell(Avatar) she was well trained but when company came over...she would sit and stare at guest and her butt would wiggle so hard you'd think she was going to grind a hole in the floor!

And it was useless trying to enforce any discipline with men. She'd entice them over by sitting and butt wiggling, staring and start whining! Soon as they touched her...it was over, and if your company is busy laughing and giggling, what are you gonna do! :)
