Baily is our first boxer/lab baby. We are currently feeling her Eukanuba, but after reading so many messages, I am totally convienced that is NOT a good choice. When she was a puppy we switched to Royal Canin, but she broke out in hives. We are not talking a few...she swelled to the size of a bull dog and we could not see her eyes. We rushed to our vet...who never saw hives so bad...and after a few shots of Cortizone, she was back to her old self. Now we do have a stock pile of Benedry on hand as well. But back to my food problem. What do I feed her? I know that she is highly sesentive. But I want to be a "good mommy!"

I read some messages about Canidae...and that sounded good as well as Chicken Soup for the Dog Lovers Soul. But I just don't know!

Any suggestions would be very helpful.
Thanks a bunch,
Rhonda

Well it sounds as though she may have been allergic to something in the Royal Canin. It is a much much better quality food than the Eukanuba, but that doesn't mean that it can't contain some ingredient that your particular dog is sensitive to and you should avoid. It would help to narrow that down, and to make a better choice, if you were to make a list of what is in the Royal Canin that is *not* in the Eukanuba ;)

As for which food to feed - yes, there are many choices and quite a few good foods out there. In this thread you'll find the Whole Dog Journal's list of quality foods. That's a very good place to start choosing a food :)

She Likes It

We just went out and bought her new food. We decided on Go Natural because we really like the ingrediants. Thanks gmacleod for the link to WDJ list of foods.
I have never seen Bailey eat her food so fast in my life. Now we will just have to see if she has an allergic reactions. If not...then we are good. If so...I will keep trying kibble off the list.
Thanks for all the advice...and this site.
