smelly puppy??

Last night Kiera and I were snuggling on the couch for a bit, and I all of a sudden noticed a horrible smell coming from her (bottom area that is)... it was sooo gross!! I trying to possibly find a reason for the smell on google, and one answer said it could be her anal glands clearing or something along those lines? Is it normal? or should I be worried. We just saw the vet on Monday, and she was perfectly healthy... She is still playing and running around and eating like normal.

Sounds like her anal glands. Has she had either loose stools or been constipated lately? Uusally adding some fiber to the diet to help either unconstipate or to make stools less loose will fix the problem. I add psyllium to my dogs diets and haven't had any anal gland problems since then. They should clear them on their own when they have bowel movements but if they're too loose or too hard then that won't happen.

Probably anal glands... have you noticed her scooting her butt on the ground? I'd bring her to the vet to have them emptied, if that's indeed the problem. And they can show you how to do it yourself, it's pretty simple to do once you get over how yucky it is.
If they are full though you don't want to let it sit too long, one of my dogs ended up with an infection (or something along those lines, it was quite a few years ago so I don't completely remember) because hers were full and we didn't know it until it got severe. She had to be anesthetized so they could get everything drained and cleaned up. It was the first and only time her anal glands ever created an issue, so it can be a weird thing, and having them get full once doesn't necessarily mean it will always be an issue for her.

Really the only indication would be her licking the area or scooting on the ground. There's no way to tell just by looking at them.

Another thing that can cause anal gland problems is overfeeding (which would result in loose stools) or feeding too infrequently (which would cause constipation).

Mine never scooted either. They licked some but not excessively, the only indication for us was the absolutely horrible rancid smell and the brown liquid on their rear ends.
