Small white spots in stool.

I hope I'm just being paranoid, but with the luck Rocky's had so far this year, I doubt it. I noticed today that there were some small white "spots" in Rocky's stool. They were not moving at all, but what I am afraid of is that they're some type of parasite egg. He had Giardia a while back and was treated for it twice and was given the vaccine for it after that. I am hoping these are not Giardia cysts. I will continue to watch his stool and check for them. I am having a hard time trying to describe what the looked like, but I'll try. They almost looked like a little white dot with 2 "tail-like" things coming from it. I have been searching online and haven't found anything like that. I'm praying maybe it was just something he ate, but I don't know. Help me, you guys! I will watch and if I see them again I'll take a sample in and have it checked. I just did that not too long ago and they said he had no worms or anything else. *Sigh* Since I'm in Ohio now, maybe my regular vet can get to the bottom of this. I also worry because Rocky is very thin and has a hard time gaining weight. When I get back to Colorado for school I am switching vets there for sure.

I know Rocky is not a puppy but when we got Syd he had little white spots in his stool. I can't say that they looked like a little white dot with 2 "tail-like" things coming from it but I thought for sure that something was wrong.

We took him to the vet for his first visit and she did all kinds of tests and a fecal sample and there was no worms, parasites or anything. I think it might have something to do with what they have eaten.

As far as Rocky are they throughout the stool or just a few?

Do you give him Booda bones, or anything similar made out of, or containing corn starch?

We used to give Indy chicken flavored Booda bones when he was a puppy. They kept him occupied for a while, but they were expensive and had little nutritional value. They were not harmful, but one day I noticed one of his stools was full of tiny white flecks.

It caused me a great deal of concern. They were not moving, nor did they exhibit any signs of life. I put the stool on a piece of window screen and hosed it down until only the white particles remained. Turned out they were bits of corn starch. Most if not all corn products will pass through a dog's digestive system intact,

Was Rocky's stool fresh, or was it a few hours old? Depending on heat and humidity, fungus can begin growing quickly, overnight in some cases, first appearing as whitish spots, and then to a fuzzy frostlike substance.

Thanks guys. The stool was fresh, I noticed the spots as I was picking it up. It seemed like they were on the outside of it, but they could have been throughout (can't really see inside it!). I will look again in the morning when he goes. I am thinking it may have been something he ate. I don't give him Booda bones as you asked. I'm hoping that's all it is. I may just take a stool sample to the vet for my own peace of mind though.

P.S. I almost took a picture of it to show you guys...then I thought that might not be very nice.

Just checking in on Rocky this morning to see how he is doing?

I had to take him out in the middle of the night (about 2:30 am) and he had some runny stool (couldn't really see it because it was pitch black outside). He hasn't gone yet today (I fed him some Canidae Lamb and Rice canned food since his tummy is upset). I think me must have eaten something that disagreed with him (we are staying with my mom while in Ohio and I had to make sure and tell her NO people food for him since he has a sensitive tummy). I'll keep you all updated!

Okay, so I'm thinking it must have been something Rocky ate. We took a walk this afternoon and when he did his business it was solid again and there were no white spots this time. I am relieved, but I will still keep my eye out for a few days.

Glad to hear the white spots are gone; probably something he ate. Keep us updated if they do reoccur.
