Slim Boxer?

Hi all,

I find that my boxers are a bit on the slim side. I do see their ribs...
I feed them enough for 3 meals every day.
I have added pictures of their body to my gallery, please have a look and comment on it.

Cute dogs! Boxers are very thin breeds. They look like they are near, maybe a tad under, their ideal weight.

I'd just keep doing what you're doing and up the food only upon recommendation by a vet. Their weight in the pictures looks healthy to me.

Take a look at my gallery. Conner was emaciated and very skinny when I rescued him and even for him, the vet didn't recommend increasing his food dramatically. They put on weight more easily than they lose it, just like us. And an overweight dog is a much bigger problem than one that is slightly underweight.

I'm always worried my Maggie is too thin, but the vet says she's fine. I think your two are fine, probably just on the lower end of the weight range. It's much better to have an underweight boxer than an overweight one

How old are your babies? Boxers don't really fill out till they are around 3. They are a thin breed. It's not good for them to be on the heavy side. I would just keep feeding them like you are. They are very pretty.

Like everyone is saying, they are a slim breed. My vet told me that you want to be able to feel the ribs, and mabey even see them, but he said it is better to go by weight, cause the pups go through so many funny stages when they are growing. Gunner is really funny looking now, he is thin of course, but his legs are WAY to long for his body right now, he reminds me of a skinny basketball player, . His ears also have grown faster than his head... he is soooo funny looking as well as in that "clumsy" stage right now, dosent quite know what to do with his legs yet!!
