Hey everyone! Artie is doing great in the crate. Goes to the bathroom outside (still a few accidents in the house). He's a wonderful dog.

My wife and I would like him to sleep with us in our bed sometimes. Is it ok to have your 15 week old puppy cuddle with you? I did it last night and he did great! I just want to make sure I'm not messing anything up for his behavior in the future and would like to know if we should wait until he's older. Look forward to hearing from you.

Hello, we started letting our boxer puppy sleep with us because he would make a huge mess in his crate every night. At first it was nice to cuddle with him and he would fall asleep where ever we put him. Now that he is a little older he thinks he can sleep anywhere HE wants. If we try to move him he won't go back to sleep until he gets his spot back so we are stuck sleeping around his spots. I don't know that it would really harm their training. We still crate ours during the day and have not noticed a difference good or bad since we started letting him sleep with us. They really are huge bed hogs though. We hope that he potty trains before he can jump onto the bed by himself so we can transition him to his own bed on the floor. Good luck with your cuddle bug!

Our 6 week old puppy sleeps with us. (or his brother and sister) It works out well for us because he wakes up and wakes us up so we're able to bring him outside before he potties anywhere..

As far as messing up anything, Pfft.. Don't worry about it. You're probably just improving him. :) Letting them have free roam in the bedroom and sleeping in the bed is a big reward for him, I'd bet. But like the others have said, They hog the bed! We have 3 Boxers and a full size bed.. *twitch*

Maggie has always slept with us, it was much easier for potty training. She is a bed hog, but still loves to cuddle. Buster is a rescue and has slept in the bed twice, he prefers the couch.

Having a boxer in the bed at night is not bad for them. On the other hand if you like snoring and boxer breath, then go for it. We do.

my dogs sleep with us. but you should know that once you start it will be hard to stop. if you don't want to make a habit of it don't start it. boxers love sleeping with the family. it's real cute when they are babies but when they get big watch out.
I am getting a new king size bed on tuesday and I said to dh maybe we could train them not to sleep with us. his answer was no way I could not deny samson.

Our boxer Chester, didn't start sleeping on the bed with someone until this past summer (he was 1 1/2 years). We wanted to make sure that he had his crate training down pact. At first when we started letting him on the bed to sleep, it was cute. He was cuddly and cute. But now, I think we have created a monster. He likes to sleep right in the centre of the bed and if you try to move him, he either moves right back or you arn't able to move him as he feels like a ton of bricks.

Just be warned that they are bed hogs (as others have pointed out), that this sleeping agreement works great for them (but not so great for you) and that it is really hard to break them of it. In order for us to have the bed to ourselves, we have to crate Chester for the night.

Good luck with whatever decision you choose.

Hi Shaun
We let our pup sleep with us till he was about 3 months old for his security and to know when he had to potty in the middle of the night. When he started becoming a bed hog he went to his crate with no complaint. Each family is different so just do what suits you and your wifes needs.
Also did you ever live in Florida bc I knew a shaun Ross down there around 2000. If not just ignore :)

it'll be fine, just remember they get alot bigger. We have 2 of them sleep with us, they have since the first night we got them. They seem to be just fine as far as behavior goes. The only thing i can stress is remember they get much much bigger, and boxers are bed hogs.
