Boxer Pal
Hi, everyone:

I was reading the posts regarding Susan and her boyfriend (don't stress, too much, Susan--I'm sure the 2 guys in your life and your will all become a happy family soon enough. Living with another person is an adjustment--with or without the dog!!) and notice that a lot of people's boxers sleep in their rooms or in another part of the house. My husband and I put Bishop in his crate at night, which is on the first floor of our house--I was wondering if there's any danger in doing this? I'm just wondering because I haven't heard of anyone else doing this. Bishop seems to like it because when I tell him it's time to go "night-night" he gets in his crate by himself.

Subi and Bailey sleep in the bedroom with Pat and I. Which on the same post re: susan and bf it was brought up about sex and dogs in the same room. I dont care (as long as they lay down and leave us alone), but hubby likes to kick them out before any fun happens.

But i let them sleep with us because they are in the crate/kitchen during the day, i dont want to do it when we are home as well.

Mine all sleep in their crates in the kitchen and they don't seem to mind at all. We don't hear a peep out of them until morning. And I don't feel bad. I can get up and walk by them and move around and all they do is look up to be sure that it's me. I don't think they are uncomfortable at all. It's sort of like their own little bedroom.

Completely Boxer Crazy
Boz sleeps with us on the bed or sometimes on the floor at the foot of the bed. We crate him for 8 hours of the day while we're at work, so I thought 16 hours was a little too much to be crated for one day.

Sleeping arrangement

I got Marley at such a young age (6 weeks), that he was still so tiny & helpless and needed constant human (or litter) contact. I tried putting him in the crate and placing it next to my bed so that when he cried and whined, I would put my hand down and let him sniff & lick it to comfort him. Well, that just made matters worse because then he knew that I was in bed right next to him, but for some reason unknown to him, I was choosing to keep this big, cold metal wall between us. Then I thought about it hard and tried to come up with a legit reason as to why he shouldn't sleep with me in my bed and I couldn't come up with any!! I let my three cats sleep with me, so what's one more animal? Especially one that is as cuddley as a Boxer is! I knew that if I started to let him sleep in my bed, that I could never take that away from him - I would have to always allow it - and that's something that I really wanted for Marley - and me. The more, the merrier! So, I'll just have to get a King sized bed to accomodate all of mommys aminals! No biggie!
Boxers are very social animals and because we have to confine Marley to a single room during the day, it's only fair to spend every other minute I can with him. He has been a much better behaved little guy since he has been sleeping with me - his separation anxiety is completely gone - and what's better than waking up to Boxer kisses?!?!

Boxer Insane
My two sleep in the bed with us. We got a king size bed for that reason :) I am such a worry wart and always think of the most horrible things like if my house catches fire, I want my kids in the room with me so I can get them out. I shut the door to the bedroom incase one of them decides to get off the bed (rarely happens) so they are still in the same room with us. I can't sleep if they are not right next to me :D

In our room

Chloe used to sleep in her crate by our bed. She is getting pretty good with potty training, so we've been successfully leaving the crate open at night now. We close our bedroom door so she won't get into trouble outside the bedroom. She still sleeps in her crate all night even though the door is open. I guess like Karen said, it's her own little bedroom and she loves it! :p

Corky's Mom

Our two sleep on the bed with us. This is usually fine, but we have been living in a trailer at a campground for the last several weeks and the bed gets quite crowded. Corky decided on her own that it was just too crowded and usually goes to the couch until one of us gets out of bed. The puppy is only content cuddled up to me, but she is still pretty small. I love having them with us even though it can be uncomfortable at times.

Bella sleeps all over the place. We crate her during the day so we try not to crate her every night. Our intention was to have her sleep on a doggie bed in the corner of our room. She used to and still ocasionally will not settle down. Those are the nights that we will put her in the crate. Most of the time, she sleeps on her own bed in our room. When hubby gets up in the morning, 1 hour before I do, she gets in the bed with me. She is so silly, she gets on the bed and waits for me to lift the blanket so she can get under the covers too. She is such a cuddlebug. At first hubby didn't like having the dog sleep in the bed with us. Now he lets her on the weekends.

Hershey and Willow have been in their crates at night up until about a week ago. I've started gating them in the kitchen at night to give them a little more space to move around as well as for security -- if anyone were foolish enough to enter the house, they would high-tale it right back out again! Their crates are also within the gated area. Guess where they are all night? In their CRATES!! smashicon smashicon I like it though...make me feel better about them and safer too.
