Sleeping longer?

Lily will be 8 months in Aug and she she has slept in the floor in our bedroom since we got her. Well during the week I get up at 6:00am to go to work, but on the weekends we try to sleep in.

During the week, as soon as I get up, I take Lily outside since she has been holding it all night. Well now she has gotten to where at about 5:30 every morning she is wide awake. As soon as I make a move from 5:30 or later she will run to the side of the bed and start whining and licking at my hand.

Is there any way to get her to sleep longer? Ive thought about trying to put her in her cage all night, but i'm afraid that she'll whin all night since shes not used to that.

I've also tried taking her outside real quick and then going back to bed, but she is so wound up that no one can get any sleep. Any ideas?

I hope you will get a good answer to this. My boxers have never understood the concept of the weekend, even the older ones. We think Fred is part rooster because he is ready for breakfast at 5:30 every morning. Lucy will usually let me get away with one snooze, but that's it. Good luck.

During the week, I'm up at 7am, but like to sleep in to 9 on the weekends. I have found that on the weekends, it's easiest to get up at 7am to let Kaia out and feed her like it's any other day, because that's what she is used to. While she's eating, I head back to bed, and when she's done, she actually comes back to bed, or sleeps on her bed in the family room.

Caney used to get up early still on the weekends and need to be let out, but it has gotten better with age... she's 1 1/2 now. We would usually get up to let her out, and then make sure she had something to keep her busy, like a bone or a toy, to romp around the bedroom with while we got a little more rest. ;) She occasionally will still wake up and be restless, and will get into trouble unless we let her up on the bed with us (which has now become a morning routine ;) ) Once on the bed she is usually fine and will go back to sleep for as long as we are sleeping.

I'll try taking her out and then just going back to bed. We shut the door at night so she cant wander through the house - we dont quite trust her 100% just yet. But hopefully she'll just lay down in the floor and go back to sleep. I'll have to try this next weekend.

We kinda have the same routine with Carmel. On the weekends, we sleep until she lets us know she needs to go out. She gets let out only long enough to take care of her business. When she comes back in, she gets her breakfast. After she is done she usually wanders back to her doggie bed in our room, if not, we get her and just give her a couple of her favorite toys to occupy her while we sleep. It almost always doesn't take her long to fall back asleep with us though! I think it took us longer to get into the "weekend routine" than it took her.

Basil gets up with my dad at 500 every morning (normally) and goes to the bathroom, then comes in and cuddles in bed with me. I get up at 745, and she STAYS IN BED. In fact, if I turn on the overhead light, she glares at me.... so most mornings I get ready in the bathroom or with just the closet light on.... Some days she skips going outside at 5am and just sleeps until i get up. Can you tell she runs my life? On the weekends if I sleep past 1030 she may come in and paw at me if shes not outside with my dad mowing.

I would cry if my dog woke me up at 530 every morning and didnt let me go back to sleep!
