Hello
I was wanting to know if anybody else let their boxer sleep in the bed with them at night? He is out side all day and then I bring him in about 6:30, then he is with me for the rest of the day. At nigh time he will get up on the bed and go to sleep w/ his head on my pillow. He sleeps this way all night. Should I have even started this? He is a very smart pup, and I do not see what it hurts. (I live with my boyfriend, so he sleeps in the bed also) Do you think this is goig to be a problem one day? I will take any sugestions because my boyfriend says that it is not right. I had a dog when i was smaller and she slept in the bed also. Please help!!!!! What should I do?????

(sorry it is so long)

Our puppy used to sleep in bed with my husband and I, but she is a bed hog and is getting so big. Now each of my kids take turns sleeping with her. I don't think that it is a problem. They do get bigger and they are big bed hogs. But all in all I think that it is not going to hurt anything by letting your pup sleep with you.

All of my dogs sleep in bed with us. IMO it is only a problem if there are respect issues - which sometimes happens during adolescence. There are guidelines, though - the dog cannot get onto the bed until invited, and/or has to get off of the bed when you ask it to.

I'm not a fan of keeping Boxers outside all day but I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume no one is home until 6:30 ? I would caution you to be careful as the summer approaches - it can get very hot & humid in TN and some Boxers have a real problem with this.

Hi, I am also from Tennessee.

Both my boxer sleep with me. My husband works nights and they are so much company when the house "creeks" and when you hear the bump in the night noises

George is a cuddle bug and must be touching you, he is also a pillow hog

Phoebe wants a corner of the bed where NO ONE is.

I cant imagine them staying outside in the heat we are having at the momment. They are so spoiled!

I leave him out side because he will tear up everything in the house. Nobody is home untill that time. I called the vet today and he said that he would be fine as long as I kept enough water out there and he had some shade. He absolutly loves it outside, but he also knows it is time to come in when he sees my car pull up. Well thank you for the advise.

I've heard that whatever you allow your dog to do when it's a puppy, you have to continue to let it do when it's full grown. For example, if you let your pup sleep with you while it's small, it will not understand why you kicked it out when it got too big for the bed! Just something to consider. -Jen
