Skunked again!

The dog we are dog sitting got skunked during our evening walk--it's the third dog that I have de-skunked in the last little while! Gracie has never been skunked--it is always the ones we are dog sitting. I gave Gracie lots of love and treats for obeying the "leave it" command!
I feel so bad giving the bath in the back yard, but bringing that smell into the house is just out of the question!

I have been privy to that Skunk odor before - but only when in my car and smelling it as I'm driving by - yuk. I can't even imagine what I would do if my dog got "skunked"! At least Gracie is really good at her Leave It command! Poor baby I'll bet she was sooo stunned! I feed awful for you too - three dogs you've had to "deoderize" :D

Yeah, but you haven't really lived until you've had a skunk spray UNDER your house. I think I slept in my car that night the smell was so bad. :(

Oskar was skunked last weekend in the face! My poor baby! He kept sniffing the air to find out where the smell was coming from! I told him It's you that stinks! The best destinker I found was 1 quart of Hydrogen peroxide, 1/4 cup baking soda, 1 tbl of liquid soap. Mix together, scrub up, let it sit for about 5-10 minutes (yeah right with a boxer?!?!) rinse. Worked like a charm!

Thank goodness the skunk didn't spray under the house--it would have been crowded sleeping in the car!

When I was a kid my mom used to get up very early (she liked the peace and quiet) and walk our dog. One winter morning when she came back home from her walk she held the door open a little longer for what she thought was our cat, Clyde. Turns out it was a skunk and the little guy sprayed the front hallway. It was all over our coats that were hanging by the front door. I don't remember much else but I know the other kids stayed far away from my brother and I in school......
