Did your vet aspirate it to see if the cells were normal? If so and the cells are normal, my vet suggests just watching it. They remove them if your boxer goes under for a dental or other surgery, but if cells are normal, only remove it when it bothers your dog or it changes. Pete had a skin tag removed this past spring after we noticed it started to get bigger and darker in color. Big incision but the lab report indicated benign. Yeah!

No the vet did not do anything to it. Just told me to watch it and see if there were any change in color and size. She has a few but they are real tiny.

Austin has quite a few skin tags all over the place. My vet said to remove them would only be for cosmetic purposes, and I'm not about to put him thru that for looks. I think he looks great the way he is!

Cooper has had 1 removed from his fore arm area and 1 from his elbow because they kept catching on things and ripping and bleeding all over the place. They did not put him under to do it either, they just gave him a local and snip it was done. He has another one starting but it is not big right now, I was told by the vet that it is something they get not to worry but to just watch them. He is also getting moles on his back, you can not see them but you can feel them when you pet him. It is just something that happens with age...kind of like us.

Just keep your eye on them though.

Good luck

Are ypu sure it's a skin tag? Pete had a little pimple on one of his eyelids. Took him to the vet and they did an eye stain to see if the cornea was damamged. It was not, so the vet presribed eye drops hoping it was an infection in one of the glands near the eye. Pete would have needed to be put under to aspirate or remove this "pimple". Fortunately it healed in about a week and no surgery was required.

Probably worth at leadt a call to the vet. I hope it is not serious.

My Chelbe had a skin tag to come up on her lower front leg. I had it removed once I saw it start to progress in size. It stayed small for several months and then all of a sudden it doubled within about a months time. The vet sent it off for testing and (knock on wood) test results were negative for cancerous.
