My 3 year old fawn male, Max, has something on the side of his belly that resembles a skin tag? It is soft, flexible, and hangy...looks kind of like a deflated mole. I was wondering if anyone elses boxer has had a skin tag? Also, I think he has a few "freckles" on his belly. I've only recently noticed them. Anyone else seen this in thier baby?
thanks,
Jill

Herkie has a skin tag as well, and I've heard it's very normal. As it's not been changing..ie:growing, color, etc...I've yet to address it with his vet(we've been addressing other things :) ) But I believe the proper protocol is to mention it to the vet and they should aspirate it.

Billy will be 8yrs in 2 weeks time.

He has a skin tag on the inside of his rear leg and another on the elbow of his front leg.

The vet had a look and confirmed that they are just 'Boxer lumps'. But he did advise us to let him see them again if we thought they were growing, bleeding or chaning shape/colour.

Hadley's

Hadley developed one at about a year of age near his knee. We showed it to our vet then and he explained that we could remove it if we wanted but that it would be more for asthetic reasons. The next six months though it grew to protrude about about 1/2 inch from the skin. As we knew we would be getting a new puppy soon, we elected to go ahead and have it taken off then. It was a very simple procedure (local anesthesia) and he was running around in hardly any time.

You describe these as soft, I see one on Sebastian that looks more like a wart in shape. Has anyone seen this?

Cody also had several skin tags. The vet wasn't worried about them unless the shape or color changed. He did have a couple removed when he was put under for other things.

Recently I found what I thought was a tick under Mason's chin. I freaked since we haven't had ticks in a long time due to the cold. We are going to the vet for this and his allergies...my question is what exactly is a skin tag? Somehow I have never heard of this. Are they similar to a mole? Are they cancerous often/sometimes/rarely/deending on the situation? I know it says here to check it for changes, but Mason's isn't soft so I'm not sure if it is a skin tag. Thanks!

I don't know if they're cancerous, but I hope not as Ronin has one too. I'm assuming that's what it is - it looks just like a skin tag that a person would get. His is black however, maybe because he's a Brindle? It's not soft, I would say it's more "rubbery". I just noticed it last week. Now that I've read this thread, I think I'll be calling my Vet tomorrow morning :)
