Skin lump- getting bigger

Boxer Buddy
Hi;
My boxer Duff will be 2 in July. About 3-4 days ago I noticed he had a lump on his right rear flank. I assumed it was a bug bite, or a sting, but it's actually getting bigger as we go along. He doesn't protest much when I look at it, so I assume it doesn't hurt very much. From what I can see, it's making the skin quite red, but no oozing or anything like that. It's quite noticeable even from a bit of distance. At this point, it's about the size of a large pea.
Any ideas what this could be? Or if I could be doing anything to help? I'm sort of concerned because I know boxers are prone to tumours, cancerous and otherwise. But since it seems to be at skin level, I don't know whether it merits a trip to the vets. Should I wait it out a couple more days?
Any thoughts welcome...
Thanks
Karen & Duff

I wish I had some answers but I will say, I may worry too much but I wouldn't chance anything like that. I'd be off to the vet's. Good luck! I wish you and your baby the best!

Jennie just had a histocytoma removed from her face. What you described sounded like what she had. It didn't seem to bother her to touch either. It started out like a little bump (like a zit) but then kept getting bigger and bigger. It was kinda gray but then turned more red as it grew.

Any lumpy, bumpy thingy on a Boxer needs to be seen by a vet.
Mast cell tumors can have a variety of appearances.
Hoping it's nothing but I think a vet should make that determination.
