So just recently my dog broke out in the symptoms. Some on her chest, a patch by her neck where her collar is, and a lot on the inside of her one leg and then some scattered around. Nothing on her paws from what I can tell.

I took a few photos so you can see. They are right here - Skylar Skin - Imgur

A few notes:

1. Haven't really changed her food or treats. The food she is on now, she has had 3 other 30lbs bags before and this never happened. I rotate through food. She is only 1.3 years old, so maybe if it's allergies it's just starting now since it's a small sample size and young age.

2. I was about 6 days late giving her this months' flea meds. I highly doubt this is fleas, but just wanted to double check and provide the information.

3. I did take her to a forrest area with tall grass etc, but she goes there all the time. It's nothing really new.

That's about all the info I have.

My plan was to wait a few days to see if it gets better before taking her to the vet. I'm thinking/hoping this isn't an emergency so wanted to wait it out and see before spending the money at the vet.

I know with skin stuff, it's very hard to tell what the cause is, but by chance does this jump out as anything? First dog, so this is all new to me. Did some research, but still unclear the exact cause.

What brand of food do you feed? The fact that she's been eating it awhile doesn't mean anything allergies can present seemingly overnight. Does she seem itchy or bothered by it? Does it have an odor? Are there any open sores? You can try giving her Benadryl to see if that helps with it.

I'm leaning towards it being an allergy as well. I know they can come at any time, and sometimes it takes a while to get worse as it might start out minor. I did mention the sample size of the amount of food I've given her before is small, so it's a clear possibility.

I'm feeding her Acana Grasslands at the moment. I rotate through the flavours, but try to stay from the Grasslands as it's a higher calcium level. It's not often I give this to her though she has had it before.

She isn't bothered by it. Normal itching/licking as in nothing major, and the amount she was doing her whole life. Dogs itch and lick from time to time obviously, so my instinct says it's nothing out of the ordinary.

No odor that I can tell. As for open wounds. Hmm I don't think so. Some scab up and pick off. Some kinda do like open wounds I guess. Hard to tell.

If you look at the ones are her chest in the white fur area, they look dark. I heard that's probably not a good sign and possibly mange?

I'm going to give her a bath, been a little while, and wash her bedding just in case and wait it out and hope it gets better.

Hello,

I noticed that my puppy (5 months old) has it too :( Little dry spots on his leg and one soft, small bump. I'm feeding him Taste of Wild (yellow bag) and I am not sure if it's because of the food (we changed his food about month ago) or an allergy. It doesnt have any smell or anything, but I believe it must bother him a lot. I hope i can find more information online, if not.... vet, here we come! ;)

Hope your girl feels better!

Honestly I'd probably take her to the vet to get a diagnosis. Mange is usually itchy...not always but most times. Maybe try her on a chicken and rice diet or beef and rice and see if it clears up over a week or so, but providing you can afford it I'd go to the vet for a diagnosis.

Did you have a vet look at this? This looks very similar to folliculitus. Leah had folliculitus due to her allergies. I don't think a dog has to have allergies to get this. If it is it will usually not go away on its own and is treated by a 4-8 week course of antibiotics. At least that was how Leah was treated. Search: folliculitus in dogs and take a look at some of the pictures. I would go to the vet.

Ya I think you're right now that I did more research.

I had done some research before posting here, but a lot of the skin diseases all look the same (at least to me and what I saw). I had found a site that had a photo and description of common problems and had assumed/guessed it was either mange or folliculitis if it was any of them.

I'll make an appointment with the vet.

That's good! I know when Leah had her folliculitius it drove her crazy. Licking and chewing on the spots. But then again with allergies she is always licking and chewing at her legs. Good luck at the vet, update and let us know what it is.
