I want to know if other people's dogs do this too....Have you ever left your dog alone in a room or gone to the bathroom and come out to see them sitting and waiting for you politely? I leave the room and when I come back Jem is just sitting and looking at me strangely, like he didn't know what to do with himself once I left, so he just sat and waited. I just wanted to know if anybody else's dog has done this cause I've never experienced before now.

Mine do this when I go out to check the mail. I want to know how you go to the bathroom without the your dog following you in? :)

Lol, it's hard to keep him out of the bathroom! He finds a way in or scratches at the door. If I even leave it open a crack he noses his way in!

Haha Juno does this. If I go out to start my car, I'll come back inside and she's just sitting at the front door. Or when I go to change into my work clothes... when I'm done and open my door, there she is!

Of course, she never follows me when I WANT her to. :)

Not in the bathroom, because they insist on accompanying me or DBH, however, one of the few times I took them to the dog park, Mali jumped the fence way in the back. I climbed over to get her back, and hoped Oscar would be good boy and behave himself while I tried to coax Mali out of the mud and stickers, away from the bird, squirrel, or who knows what. Managed to get Mali and went back to where I climbed out because going to the gate would have required going through much more swamp, mud, and stickers. There sat Oscar. I gave him many treats as we left. Oscar has always respected fences, but I was amazed that he stayed in the exact spot where I left him and did not go to play with his friends.

Allie will wait by the bathroom door, we have a really small bathroom so she will look in but won't actually stay in there with you....BUT what i think is funny..she will lay by the top stair and wait for us to go down. In the morning while getting ready for work, she will pace for a min, then lay down and just wait..like she can't go down the stairs until we do.

It happen with mine every time. LOL Sometimes I move to another room and slowly I see all of them coming and laying down in the floor. Even the cats do that.

waiting boxers!

Ours do that too! Especially Dexter.. he follows me from room to room. I get up, and I can hear him 'click click click' after me. He just lays down on the floor of whatever room I am in and waits for me.. same thing! If it's the bathroom, then when I'm done I open the door and there he is! Ready and waiting.. Kidney beaning away! lol..
I don't know how many times I have tried to quietly sneak out of a room so that he isn't following me.. but, he will wake out of the deepest sleep. I have to say 'Dexter, Stay'. Then, he will stay with the biggest look of anticipation on his face- until I come back and say 'Okay!' so that he can get up.. then, its a world of Kidney Beans again.
It is funny because all of them somehow 'know' that they are not allowed in the bathroom, or upstairs. So they wait at these invisible 'borders'. It sounds like everyone else's Boxers do the same!
