Ok, Bently just turned 4 months old today. We took him this past weekend to the in-laws which is a 4 hour drive. We made several stops for him to potty and he would just sit there and look at us and not go! When we got to the in-laws he still wouldn't go! I finally took him into the front yard where he finally went potty. We had the same senario on the trip home. He never whined, just slept and we only stopped once for him to go, which he didn't. He reminded of a child or someone that will not use a public restroom or one that they are not familar with. Does anyone else have a boxer that does this? Just wondering if this is something I need to watch. Of course for the almost month we have had him, this was his first trip. He has always been home with just Mom, Dad, fur brothers and the grandkids coming over.

Maybe he was just comfy in the car?! :) When Samson was only 13 or 14 weeks, we took him on a 3 hour car ride and stopped several times for him to go potty. He wouldn't go at all, either. It seemed that he was more interested in getting back in the car and snoozing!

Zoey comes to work with me, and we travel all throughout the Sea to Sky corridor (Vancouver Canada). She has to use the 'potty' wherever it's available, whether it's a giant empty field, a ski parking lot, or a patch of grass outside the McDonalds. And she hates using anything other than her own 'potty' at home. At home, she goes outside and does her business in 5 minutes usually (amid playing and watching people). But when we are out, it can take up to 1/2 an hour before she even thinks that she might go potty in a strange place. But she has never had an accident in the van/car. She just curls up to sleep too. Maybe it's just their 'thing'. LOL What cuties.
Oh yeah, and if she REALLY has to go, shell go, but she looks up at me like she's reallly unhappy. (Think: Saddest Boxer puppy eyes ever)!!!

I think they just like "their bathroom". Joe does the same thing on road trips. The first trip I took him on was by myself and he kept having gas and I thought he was going to you know what in the car and I kept pulling over and he would not go! I learned my lesson after that trip, just roll down the windows and they will let you know if they absolutely have to go!

Whenever we take Rocky for a drive, he usually always goes directly to sleep. Rocky seemed to have that same problem though about going to the bathroom at a different place at first. For example, when I would take him to my parents house, I would take him outside for a long time and wait for him to go and he wouldn't. Then when he would hide behind their coffee table on go on their really nice rug. But now that he's been there a few times, he has no problem going outside. He'll even go and sit by their back door to be let out now. Even now, when he's doing his "business" he'll turn his back to you, but then peak over his shoulder with this "don't look" look on his face.

Oh good, the gas in the car thing is normal then. Rocky get's horrible gas in the car, we have no choice but to roll down the windows.
