Our female puppy Maggie is four months old and when she sits down on her bottom she rolls back and her bottom feet stick out like a frog or something. We had a male as our first boxer and he never sat like this. He always sat on his hind feet. Is this normal?

hmmmm, my boy puppy (also 4 months) only sits on his hind feet...I know two female boxers though- the next time I run into them at the park I'll ask them for a "sit" -- you sparked my curiosity!

No my little guy sits very proper at all times...Not!
This is how baby tried to sit in Rally O class last week. Our Behaviorist did not find it nearly as amusing as everyone else did. They rolled laughing. Every now and again he gets bored and has to liven things up a bit.

Lisa sits like that as well. I am sure she thinks that she may as well be comfortable - NO

Indy's quite fond of the 'frog' position. Looks painful to me but he does it a lot so it must be comfy. For the record, he is a male,.

Thanks Baby Major, your picture was perfect. That is how Maggie sits, of course she is alot smaller than your baby right now. Take care!

Millie does the frog thing like in BABYMAJOR's picture also, but not during obedience. Like if I ask her to sit, she sits properly. In the car or where she is sitting for a long period of time, she will push her legs to the side like that. I think it is more comfortable for them, especially b/c their butts don't touch the ground when sitting (at least Millie's doesn't) but if she moves from the squat position to swinging her legs to the side, then she can rest on her but rather than the backs of her legs. I bet it's similar to humans trying to sit in a low squat for a long time.

Same thing with Grumpy... she usually does the frog sit on the couch watching tv... silly little girl, all slumped over like that, she looks like she should have a beer in one paw and the remote in another!
