my lab who was 6yrs old had Infection of the Spinal Vertebrae and Intervertebral Discs. The syptoms you describe seem exactly what he had.
He was in incredible pain and we were concerned that he had almost lost all use of his back legs and was in excruciating pain.
It took numerous vet visits and a trip to the areas most respected vetinerary school/hospital where they did an MRI to diagnose. This was 12 years ago and was not common practice for dogs to have an MRI.
The diagnosis cost thousands, but the treatment was an antibiotic (cephalex)sp and cost pennies. Once this was done, he was back to 100% and never had a recurence.
If money is not an object and you have not seen an improvement with the treatment you are giving, ( I seem to remember seeing improvement after about 3 days but it was a long time ago) I would go and have the MRI, even if only to rule out anything there.
I hope your baby feels better soon.

I just had to hospitalize her this morning. Her fever came back and she has some unusual swelling in her lower back legs. Her tail and butt seem to be swollen also. She is not in as much crying out pain but is very uncomfortable. I am very sorry to courtney323. I was searching the internet all day before finding this place. When I found it I wanted to start this thread right away because I am not good a typing and took me a hour or so to type it. I knew about the intro when joining but by the time I got the email that said I was excepted I forgot all about it. I am on hardly any sleep in 5 days and think I am becoming sick myself. I have lost 10 lbs and I am the most sad person in the world right now. Although I dont agree that it was rude, I am sorry about my intro. I am desperate right now and I am just trying to find some answers. I am 31 year old man and I have been crying on and off for 5 days now. I am actually crying right now. I have never been this sad in my life. She is my whole world. I am so scared this is the end for her. I am not ready to let her go yet. I dont want her to die like this. If everyone can just say a prayer out loud for us today I would really appreciate it. Her name is Lexus Person and my name is Jonah Person. Thank You

Jonah - get the MRI and see what it says. It seems you have a fast moving problem and and MRI will rule out (or diagnose) some problems. Best wishes for a quick diagnosis and recovery for Lexus. I know what it's like to have a problem that no vet can figure out, it just plain sucks and is VERY scary. We are sending tons and tons of <<<<<<<<positive vibes>>>>>>>>> to you and Lexus. Get the MRI and let us know what you find out.

Did they do a Lyme disease check?

Hi, I'm so sorry to hear what you're going through. This may be a dumb question but I didn't see anything in your original post that said they did a Lyme disease check. Do you have ticks in Florida? I am in the Northeast and ticks are rampant, especially this time of year.

My own boxer a few years ago was fine one day and then virtually crippled the next. I had to carry her outside to go to the bathroom. Lyme disease is a crippling disease if not treated. After an emergency trip to the vets and a blood test, it turned out to be Lyme. It is treatable with antibiotics. She is fine now. I have since been completely faithful on using the anti tick/flea ointments on my dogs (not sure if I'm allowed to name brands here).

Good luck with everything!

Did they do a spinal tap to rule out spinal menigitis? Our friend's boy, Riggs, had it a few years ago. He wouldn't eat, had a fever and suffered a kind of weakening in the rear legs. He was very weak and hospitilized for several days. He's a terror now.

I will pray for your baby. Keep us posted.
