Shoulder injury! Nothing seems to work.

This is for my friend, she doesnt speak english - but really needs your help:

My dog (16 months boxer) hurt his shoulder playing, and is limping horrible on front right leg (since early december). I have already gone to the vet a couple of times and he has got some injection in the cartilage twise but he is still limping. He also had some painkillers. Now the doctors dont know what to do and say that he cannot life in this pain. I cant believe there is nothing that can be done for him - and i am seeing another vet to get another opinion tomorrow

Please can you tell me something.

Sorry your friends dog is not feeling well. What was he diagnosed with exactly? Were x-rays done?

Yes there were taken x-rays. He wasn't really diagnosed with anything - they thought the cartilage in the shoulder was damaged and thats why they gave him injects there - twice. But it didn't work :/ He is as limp as before.

I hope the new vet will have more answers for your friend or at least provide her with advice/medication to relieve the pain. Since the boxer is only 16 month I'm sure there must be something that can be done.

Make sure they are doing enough x-rays. Thor has arthritis in his shoulder. One of his first issues was bending down to eat out of his bowl. The vet x-rayed his neck, no problem there, and put him on pain meds.He started limping a few weeks later, the vet x-rayed his leg. Again nothing there and more pain meds. When the limp persisted they finally x-rayed his shoulder, and found quite a bit of arthritis. Now I know what it is and can treat accordingly. Our dogs are good at masking pain so sometimes you need to connect the dots. Good luck!
